Rookanis Week, Day 2: Open Doors/Cages
I interpreted this one as Lucanis stuck in his head/the ossuary always falling back to memories of blood magic and receiving Spite. While Rook is continuously trying to bring him back to the here and now showing not only him but Spite as well who they really are.
Thank you @rookanis-week for another amazing prompt!
Cages Have you ever met someone and felt they were a reflection of you? have you felt reflected?
A super late piece for day 2 of @rookanis-week 😮💨
Hi! How about 11 & 12 for Rookanis week asks? 💜
Thanks for the ask, @wolfsong-the-bloody-beast! 💕 I'm glad you asked this pair. 😊 I have some pictures for this one.
For the Rookanis Week Asks here.
#11: If Rook got a chance to get Lucanis a second gift during game events what would it be?
So I'm going to say third gift, because we actually can get Lucanis two things during the game. This tea set:
And the wyvern-tooth dagger:
(Though I prefer gifting them in the other order to a romanced Lucanis, because his reaction to the tea set is very sweet if you romance him.) So it'd be a third gift.
Which Saadrah does give him, post-Tearstone, and it's related to their romance. I have her gift him one of these:
This is a pair of dragon-fang daggers that Saadrah has the Caretaker help her make, from a fang taken from Corius the Icetalon after they defeat it in the Hossberg Wetlands. It's her take on the "necklace of kadan" tradition (the one we see in Inquisition with a romanced Iron Bull). She still wanted to split a dragon fang with Lucanis, but neither of them is really the necklace type.
The intent was to give him the Crow-themed one and keep the Qunari-themed one for herself, but he asked for the Qunari one instead to match a knife she gave him when they were children.
#12: What would Lucanis get for Rook at the Treviso market?
While they're wandering the market picking up gifts for their companions, Lucanis sees Saadrah admiring all the lanterns hanging there. You know, these ones?
(On the left, my favorite spot in the market. On the right, one of the lanterns from the Antivan theme for the Lighthouse.)
And frankly, that's me absolutely projecting onto her for this bit, because these lanterns are gorgeous.
After they get back from meeting with Illario, Saadrah finds one of these left outside her room as her gift from Lucanis.
Day 1: Coffee / Tea / Hot Chocolate
Are you struggling on what to write or draw for this prompt? It can be easy to run into roadblocks. The Mod Team has put together some questions that may help inspire you.
When did Rook first try any of these? Are they formative experiences or new experiences?
This question gives Rook a chance to express similarities or differences with Lucanis - what others do they have? How does this affect their relationship?
Tea? *disgusted noise* how do Rook and Lucanis deal with rejection?
How did this first date influence Rook and Lucanis's relationship?
A very late contribution for @rookanis-week : Family/Spite
Let me introduce the Dellamorte family. A painting they had commissioned about four years post VG. This is going to be part of the follow-up fic to Fire Magic & Inner Demons.
Kione 'Rook', Lucanis, Chiara (Lucanis and Kione adopted her after her mother died, Illario is bio-dad), Illario, Macario 'Rio' (Son of Lucanis and Kione, Kione had a run-in with an ancient elvhen spirit trapped in an artifact = magic baby), Caterina, and Spite!
Also on ao3!

🌟My Very Important Contribution to Rookanis Week.🌟
Hello, fellow felons, banes to the Venatori, lovers of Lucanis that might be in need of items from the Shadow Dragons faction shop!
Since I am not feeling well enough to write/draw anything for Rookanis week, here goes my contribution for the event, saviors of Treviso! XD
Are you broken? Can't buy/find enough valuables to rank the store up before "A Warden's Best Friend" and don't have a PC to cheat?!
Don't worry! I got you covered! 100% legally!
Remember the Central Market detour you take to reach the Docks during "The Smuggled Relic Case"? The one with a chest that contains the "Defiant Plate" piece? Well, that warehouse is full of containers and pots everywhere. And when you break those pots and glasses, you can get not only an unholy amount of flawless crystals, but also money AND valuable items! Including the "Tevene Lager", which *coughs* is worth 8 points if sold to the Shadow's faction shop.
Once you've broken the heck out of everything, just use the fast travel to the Sanctum and back and the contents will have respawned once more!
Do that for as long as you have the patience to, and you might as well get to rank 4 before saving Treviso.

Rookanis Week 2026
Day 2: Open Doors/Cages Organized by @rookanis-week Chapter Rating: T Summary: A Spite POV about how Rook's presence changes Lucanis from the inside out Also Available on Ao3
Determination became Spite the day they were swallowed screaming; a spirit made demon as bone and flesh closed around it. The cage they occupy writhes and howls and when it sees Spite within itself, it hates them.
The prison calls itself Lucanis. It never tells Spite this; instead, the demon uncovers the information as it presses against the confines of his mind in search of exit. His name is Lucanis and he is also trapped. His cage is different— there is water and ice and magic that burns— but he also cannot escape. And now, his body encases Spite. Spite does not know if humans have a word for the prisoner of a prisoner.
They trawl through his memories as he sleeps. It is the only way they learn; the prison will not speak to them. They feel Lucanis’s resentment seeping down from his skull every day. So they do not ask, and instead pick through his brain, finding words and emotions and facts and feelings. They see a city with streets of water overlooked by stone cafes. They see the repeating faces of a young man and an old woman— Illario. Caterina. They find memories of a mansion that has no locks and yet seems like a prison all the same.
Often, these explorations are interrupted by Venatori. They torture Spite’s cage, and Spite feels it as well. A spirit who knew nothing of humans now knows both their words and what it feels like to burn. Spite can only be its name and survive anyway.
