Roommate rant

She literally screamed at me and her friend when we went to the spider man movie because we’ve “seen the movie so we’re gonna spoil it” when we were literally just talking about the trailer and the first movie’s end credit scene? For the record she saw the first movie with me and the end credit scene literally a week prior.

And then today, I come home from work at 5pm, do chores for an hour, put in a load of laundry at 6pm and she comes out and goes “you’re doing laundry?!”

So I confirmed and was like “oh shit did you text us that you have dibs?”

And she goes “no but I was about to” so I apologized and told her I had literally a single load because my jeans are caked in mud and she rolled her eyes and went “you’re doing a lot of laundry lately”

So I snapped and went “yeah it’s like my clothes are dirty,” because I’ve been dealing with shit and kids and high stress all day on top of being sick, and don’t need her shitty attitude about laundry on top of it. And she SLAMMED her door closed.

First off, I’ve worked since 7am. I’ve been gone since then so she had ALL day to call dibs on laundry, even if she worked a shift this morning. Also, laundry was free all fucking day yesterday.

Second, she works in a beauty supply store where they don’t have a uniform. I work on a ranch where it’s been raining and I’ve been ankle deep in muddy horse shit for the past week and I do have to wear a uniform. So you’ll excuse me if I take the opportunity to do a single load of laundry when it’s not been claimed.

Secondly, we have a system where we call dibs and we all respect that. Someone has dibs on Wednesday so I figured if it wasn’t being used by FIVE PM today I would be safe. I’m sorry you’re having a shitty day but don’t take it out on me

Like am I missing something here? Am I the asshole???

For some reason my housemate is giving me shit for borrowing his car.

I don't have a car, when I started looking for a new one both of my housemates said "wait until spring, we don't have parking for 3 cars". This was with the understanding that I would need to borrow cars or get rides from them.

This past weekend was time for me to drop my son off with his dad. It's 3 hour round trip on Friday and a 2 hour round trip on Sunday. Well my housemates car ended up being flat by the time I got the meeting point for my son. My ex drove and bought me stuff to fix it and if it didn't was going to help me put on the spare. Well I was able to make it home and was texting my housemate the entire time letting him know what was going on.

The housemate brought the car to get the tire changed. It had 3 nails and a staple in it. (Holy shit how would I have collected all of that on the highway?!) It cost him 65$ to change the tire and I offered to pay 35$ of that because I use the car so much.

He stated "this is a conversation we should have in person" then HAS NOT TALKED TO ME. What the fuck is that shit? I have tried talking to him many times, but just gives me one word answers.

I always fill his tank when I use the car (he always leaves it on empty for me)

I always ask well in advance when I need the car and post it on our communal digital calendar.

I offer to pay half of anything that needs to be done.

I literally do not know what I am doing wrong. Especially since he has not had a car pretty much the entire two years we have lived together and I was sharing my car with him.

I was trying to find out where the smell of rotten eggs is coming from in my kitchen so I picked up my two roommates’container of sponges and sniffed it and I almost died. It literally triggeered my gag reflex and I felt a sudden really strong wave of nausea and my stomach twisted in on itself, that’s how bad it smelled. I really was worried I was going to vomit right then and there. I don’t understand how these two women with masters degrees in Biomedical Engineering don’t understand the basics of bacteria. I would think it’s just common sense to not leave sponges in water, throw out your sponges, and idk not wash your dishes with sponges that smell like death?

Roommate Requirements

I can study better in a bowling alley than in my own home??

So, I'm the Treasurer of my university's Psych Club and we had a Student-Faculty bowling game today but, I also have a homework assignment due tomorrow. I decided, you know what, fuck it, I'll do my homework at the bowling alley.

It was surprisingly easy to do my homework in the middle of all that noise despite having ADHD (I didn't bowl very well because I was too focused on my homework but I had fun so idc). The sad part is, when I was leaving, I realized it was easier for me to do my homework in the friggin' bowling alley than it is at my house.

When I'm home I have to not only fight the distractions I battle everywhere I go (playing on my phone, distracted by random noises, lost in thought, etc.) but also there's the situation with my roommate. She takes multiple phone calls a day just to talk to people (hard to understand why anyone would want to but, oh well) and her conversations last for a really long time. On top of that, she is extremely loud when she's on the phone (and even when she's not; if she laughs it's like a hyena) and I can usually hear her over my headphones.

Personally, I don't like to listen to music while studying too often because that, too, can become too distracting for me very easily. But, when I'm home I don't have a choice because I have to block out the sound of her voice and it doesn't always work and it drives me crazy. I can't study in my own home because of her.

And yet, somehow, even though bowling alleys are extremely loud there are a better studying environment than my house. Maybe its because the noise level is mainly consistent. Maybe its because there are other issues with my roommate that cause me to feel very negative feelings when I hear her voice 8 times out of 10. I can't say for sure. All I know is that doing homework in the bowling alley felt 10 times easier than trying to do it at home. Even when I had to walk away mid-sentence to bowl a gutter ball real quick it was still easier for me to get right back on track with where I was at then than it is when I get distracted by whatever I heard come out of my roommate's mouth and I don't know how to feel about that.

Roommate rant:

Trying not to start a fight with my roommate who has been claiming the washing machine since last Friday (when she was out of town for the weekend and the rest of us vetoed her and rushed to get our laundry done before she got home to be nice.)

But anyways she didn’t come home when she told us she was. Twice. So we didn’t do laundry those days, trying to be courteous since she called dibs before she had left.

She’s been home two and a half days and has not done her laundry still AND flipped off our other roommate yesterday for doing a single load. Today when I saw her I asked her to let me know when she was done so I can do a load and she went “umm, I’m going to work.”

She’s been home for 3 hours and is currently sitting in the living room watching tv. Washer is empty. So is the dryer.

I am a wee bit frustrated.
