this has been worked on since the very first month of the year and now, after a lot of hard work and stress, it is finally here, and I do hope you enjoy!

Rewrite of that scene, you know the one (Probably? It’s all I can think about so I assume others are suffering the same). Also I’m so goddamn rusty at writing so like, just be aware of that going into this 😅 No beta, we write like someone who hates punctuation.

hi! i didn't come out of the movie shipping roosmav at all (i didn't ship anyone really, i'm bad at picking up romantic subtext) so would you be like, willing to tell me why you ship it?

every time Maverick said "don't think, just do" to Rooster I wanted Rooster to shove him against a wall and fuck him... I don't know if I gave it any more consideration than that at the time tbh

now that I've watched it uh, too many times it's more likely that the visceral reaction I had was entirely because of a) TC and MT's chemistry, b) the amount of tension between the two characters for 2/3s of the movie, and c) the delicious badwrong-ness of Mav trying to be a surrogate father to Rooster and fucking it up so, SO badly - it just provided too many opportunities (in fic) for things like Rooster having been infatuated with Mav his entire life and Mav trying to shove Rooster away so that he could play house instead (while secretly being tempted of course) for me to not ship it

none of these things are surprising based on the types of relationships I normally go for in fandom though

I have no idea if that helps explain anything, it's just how my brain works - thanks for the ask!
