its kind of fun to uninstall programs you arent using to free up space and see them all beg for their lives
americans are like i was gifted child but also i didnt learn other countries existed until i was 35 years old
making this post ruined my life
Went to a fabric store yesterday and saw a sewing machine that did embroidery of photos and the example was of a newborn baby and it was so fucking insane looking I asked an employee if I could buy it and she looked at it and was like “oh my god eugh what the fuck… i think that’s my bosses grandkid….I think you should just take it” so I did
I love it so much you guys
I know I already made a post to this effect but it's so baffling to me when someone defends the fact that headphone jacks are slowly but surely getting phased out by smartphone manufacturers with some variations of "wireless headphones are more convenient anyway" bc like. If we're talking about convenience what I like about wired headphones is that they conveniently have a single plug that makes the same damn pair of headphones universally compatible with every single audio-output-capable device I own, from my phone and my computer to my fucking gameboy and my casette player, it doesn't get any more convenient than that.

If you haven't already seen it you should check out the manga "Buddha Cafe". Very similar to the shojo Nozaki-kun 4 koma romance in vibes and format.

Left for a week and almost missed the historic event of Tumblr Sexyman Final Voting.
When I was diagnosed at age sixteen, after having one period in the eighth grade and then never again till a medically induced one my junior year of high school - my uterine lining measured in centimeters because it was so thick, my mother turned to me in the car. She was upset. Literal tears in her eyes. And she told me her friend had PCOS, but was still able to have kids. That this was still a possibility for me if I did injections and fertility treatments, etc. My mom had never asked me if I wanted kids, she just assumed.
My first conversation about PCOS with my new endocrine/OBGYN was about weight management and how that could improve my fertility when I eventually wanted kids. It wasn't asked what my goals were for my health or if I wanted kids, just assumed.
I was a hormonal, depressed mess. I hated my body. My body dysmorphia was so bad that I cloistered myself away from so much. I wore hoodies and jeans in the 90°F, 80% humidity summers. This was considered fine. I was given metformin and birth control pills and told this was all that could be done. That PCOS wouldn't affect my life until I wanted to be pregnant. I wasn't asked if I wanted to be pregnant, just assumed.
I don't know how many PCOS groups I joined on my early 20s hoping to find community and commonality for body dysmorphia and symptom management, only to be bombarded with fertility treatments and tips and 'inspirational conception' anecdotes. They never asked if I was attempting to conceive, just assumed.
It's a problem. It's been a problem. And thank god I learned to speak up and find medical professionals that would help me with *MY* goals. I shouldn't have had to, someone should have recognized the needs of that sixteen y.o. and protected her, but I can only hope the conversation changes as awareness increases.
IT'S HERE! IT'S FINALLY HERE!! @mcelroyfamilystaff
The Adventure Zone: Story and Song Graphic Novel is out in bookstores everywhere today! I can't believe it!! I'm so excited for you to get to read it, and I can't wait to hear what you think.
When we started making these graphic novels, I thought we'd be lucky if we got to make any more than the very first one-- so to have actually been able to complete the entire Balance arc means the world. We would never have made it this far without all of the time and attention and care you've given TAZGN over the years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration to get to be a part of! But all comics are ultimately a collaboration between the folks who make them and those who read them. We all put every last ounce of work, heart, and joy into these books that we possibly could, and I can only hope that that shines through. The rest is up to you!
PS: once you've read it, if you have a favorite page, panel, or background detail/interaction, please tell me!! i wanna hear about it!!
so awesome how there's an animal called a gooey duck & it's spelled geoduck for some reason & it's a humongous clam for some reason
it feels enough, when you’re around
reminder that i, as an anarchist and an agnostic, am firmly against anti-theism (the stance that religion is inherently bad and should be abolished). spirituality and religion are normal parts of humanity. they are things that we make and will continue to make. some people do really just have an innate sense/desire for Something Beyond Them and that's not just going to go away Because Marxism. if anything you are throwing away a powerful organizing force that can and has been used for leftist goals, yes, even christianity. there is no part of human society that cannot be used to harm people, there is no social system that cannot be used to exploit people, there is no social construct that cannot be used to justify that harm and exploitation.
the ways in which we think of religion as a concept have been fundamentally shaped by systems of exploitative power. that does not mean this is the only possible way to think of or engage in religion/spirituality. religion has been a major push factor for many to socialism and anarchism. im so sick and tired of y'all. it's not my revolution if i must sever a core part of how i understand myself and the world or else be named an enemy.
#and there is no way to abolish religion that doesnt involve genocide. people dont want to hear this but its true #<-#prev #there’s no way to abolish religion without cultural genocide too #there’s no way to do it without it getting insanely racist real fast #there’s a conception that My Experience of X Is Universal #and all Christianity in the whole world takes the form of white American evangelism #I’m not saying other forms of Christianity are all better or faultless #but I am saying they’re different and they’re practiced by different people #and you can’t be making blanket statements about Christianity when you’re talking about the specific Christian experience you had #‘but obviously I mean -‘ I don’t care SAY that then #everyone here is able to recognise that the words you use are an important part of shaping your thought process #until it’s about something you cant be arsed about via @teacupsandcyanide
#fascinating that OP equates atheism with being actively against religion#I’m atheist but that’s only for me. people can express their desire for/belief in Something Else#all they want as long as they don’t insist that I do the same#I also don’t think that religion should be abolished
anti-theism =/= atheism.
