Ingredients: 3 lbs pork shoulder, boneless. 1 can 12 oz root beer. 1 cup barbecue sauce. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1 teaspoon onion powder. 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika. Salt and pepper to taste. Buns for serving.
Instructions: Place pork shoulder in a slow cooker. In a bowl, mix root beer, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Pour the root beer mixture over the pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Strain the liquid from the slow cooker and return the shredded pork to the cooker. Mix the shredded pork with some of the strained liquid to keep it moist. Serve the pulled pork on buns, drizzled with additional barbecue sauce if desired.
