OC Dynamics Month 2026 Day 12 - apologetic

Characters: Rosalie, Livia

Setting: Part 2, somewhere in southern Faerghus

The crackle of the fire and soft snores of their companions were the only breaks in the icy silence that had settled between the two young women. Rosalie rubbed her hands in an attempt to stay warm despite the chill of the Faerghus autumn, keeping an anxious eye on Livia as she tended the fire. She was certain she hadn’t seen her smile since they left the academy.

“I…” Her voice cracked.

Livia raised her head, glare reflecting firelight.

“I truly am sorry… for what I said to you…”

Her gaze fell back to the flames. “I’m sure you are.”

"This one's called Bored," he said, first stop of the tour, already pulling the track up on his phone before she'd finished taking the picture in. The bass came in light, almost skipping, more bounce than weight.

Rosalie looked between the image and the screen - a bed unmade against a window full of mountains, pink sky, rising smoke. He kept talking, something technical about the mix, and she let the specifics slide past her without much resistance. It wasn't disinterest. It was something closer to the opposite - she was watching the way his hands moved when he talked about it, the small brightening that happened without him seeming to notice it happening to him.

The track looped under everything, restless and light. She thought about the bed in the photo, what it would feel like to actually sit in it, staring out at that window while her thoughts did the same thing the song was doing - bouncing, not landing anywhere for long.

"You made all of this," she said, not really a question.

He smiled like it was obvious. Like it hadn't occurred to him that it might not be.
