The vet didn't actually put cones on ours.

But then, they didn't get external stitches. They got superglued shut.

Mine don't like collars either. If I put collars or harnesses on them, they just sort of... melt and squish into the carpet.

Re: belly dance class post: dont be discouraged. The ladies in the performance classes were in the same boat that you were, and probably still are when they take classes and/or workshops. You have the motivation to better yourself in your dance, so keep at it! :)

Thanks for the encouragement. The performance girls are really nice, and I know we're all just in different places. It was just jarring for a bit, but I was able to get my head straight pretty quickly and just concentrate on moving my own body. If nothing else, it's like having a few extra teachers in the room. My experiences with the belly dance community have all been super positive. I love that it seems like we are really here to support each other. (A bit of a rose tinted view, I'm sure, but right now my dance community is pretty small.)

Have you ever played Portal? Or… Half Life (probably 2 is easier to get, the original is very old)? Or… uh, Bioshock?

I have Portal 1 and 2, and now that I think about it, I think I have either Half Life 1 or 2-- whichever came in the Orange Box collection. Haven't played that yet, might give it a try...

I tried a demo of Bioshock at one point and it scared the crap out of me. Never again.

Ebay is actually a great place to find components for belts like medallions and kuchis if you know how to use the proper keywords. Will they be a little more expensive, yeah probably, but there are also shops there that sell great bundles too.
