Robin had GLANCED up the moment the song started playing. The shade wasn’t PARTICULARLY offended by the song. He was merely SURPRISED it’d endured so long, surprised someone could still FIND it to dance along to.

He considered APPROACHING the girl, perhaps ASKING if she’d ever seen a man HANG before, ever WATCHED as crow PECKED a rotting corpse’s eye sockets DRY til bone showed.

But that was something BLACK Robin would do. He was merely ROBIN now. Black Robin had died long ago & he INTENDED to make sure he STAYED dead.

Instead the boy SIPPED his drink & turned the page in his novel, though his green eyes flicked towards the girl every now & then.

He’d been CRYING again. Before she’d ARRIVED, that is. His eyes were still PINK at the edges. The TRUTH was the teen HADN’T known what he’d been getting into when he’d joined the Death Eaters, not FULLY. The allure of POWER, the feeling of BELONGING had drawn him in but... The murders, the torture, the MALICE, that HADN’T been mentioned.

His voice sounded DRY, raspy, like he hadn’t drank water in DAYS. (That was untrue, he hadn’t SLEPT in days however, the violet SHADOWS under his still WET eyes could tell anyone THAT much.)
