You know what's weird is that I think about BeastMink a lot even though it makes no sense. So any thoughts on BeastMink?
I’ve been getting real deep feelings for it, especially after I finally jotted down that fic
Now, I guess it depends on whether you mean a permanent Beastjaku or if he comes out sporadically.
I feel that Mink and his spirituality would accept the sporadic appearance of Beastjaku as a part of Koujaku and try to quell him as best as he can, being more than a-okay with getting ripped apart or assaulted by the creature for Koujaku’s own good, at least that is after it is established he has feelings for Koujaku
if he hasn’t really sorted out his feelings for Koujaku then I have a good feeling there’s going to be some decapitation going on
But maybe Beastjaku comes out sporadically, but it lasts longer and longer each time, and one time, Koujaku doesn’t “come back”
He doesn’t calm down and he’s on the hunt for blood and vengeance
Mink might try to chain him down, similar to how Shiroba acts calm, but also take care of him, talk to him, pray to him (totally unlike Shiroba; i dont think there’d be much sexual stuff between them unless Beastjaku initiates it heavily, then Mink might just… let himself be used as a calming agent to let Beastjaku’s frustrations out on him). Brush his hair and ignore the not-so-gentle sharp-toothed biting Koujaku tries at his arms and wrists. He tries his damn best to make oils and ointments and things to burn for smoke to try and bring Koujaku back. There’s a point where Beastjaku and Koujaku aren’t necessarily two different beings, and Mink might realize this by how Beastjaku acts towards him sometimes. Sometimes Koujaku might get through and he’s less violent, he might tire himself out from trying to attack Mink and just purr (or… growl contently?) as he’s tended to and taken care of. Pieces of the real Koujaku show through by incoherent words and Mink would hate himself.
He’d hate himself because he can’t bring Koujaku back and he might eventually resort to saving his spirit, anyway. His patience and calmness might bring Beastjaku to him less violently, enough where he can remove the shackles some days and allow him to roam freely within a certain perimeter, and I feel that he might try to “tame” Beastjaku, but eventually come to the conclusion that Koujaku isn’t some pet to keep. He’s a human being and probably will decide that Koujaku deserves release. So he decapitates him. He'd probably go to Scratch or even Aoba, not telling anyone he decapitated Koujaku, at least not yet, so he could learn how they'd do a traditional Japanese funeral and learn some Japanese prayers for him. He'd be so devastated, I'd think he might try a funeral, or bury Koujaku himself similar to how I'm certain he did for his tribe), and keep Koujaku's head somewhere separate and safe. He'd pray to it and for it, hoping that Koujaku's soul is safe and pure. Not keep it as some psychological break thing, but genuinely because he wants his soul to be safe.
Now, I’m on the fence with the whole lovey dovey Beastjaku thing because while I like it as an alternate universe, I feel that Beastjaku is essentially the manifestation of pure hatred, violence, and vengeance. I mean, the man murdered his own mother in this form without thinking until he came to his senses. Same goes for my opinions on Virus and Trip being “in love” or, ugh, "hating" each other. I feel that there are some things that are essentially more black and white than gray, and Beastjaku being the literal manifestation of his anger seems like one thing I don’t like to stray too far from.
And I guess it depends on which version of Mink we’re talking about here, too. I feel that Mink would be forgiving and kind, but there’s the whole idea with him wanting to save Koujaku from his monstrous self. But I also feel that, like I said, he’d want to save and release Koujaku from his hatred. He’s lived through that hatred and would never want Koujaku to live through a literal, physical form of it.
But if Beastjaku would be just a happening every now and then, Mink would hate having to chain him up and Koujaku, coming back to his senses, would apologize so many times to him for hurting him, and Mink would just hold on to him, stroke his hair, kiss his tattoos, touch his face, and be completely physical with him as a comfort for both himself and Koujaku, letting him know everything’s fine. That Koujaku is fine and safe and he’s so glad he doesn’t have to worry about losing something important to him again. And Koujaku would cling to him and feel like he shouldn’t be happy right now because he’s done so many terrible things and they’d both tell each other it’s fine, they’d comfort each other because they’ve both done terrible things to everyone around them. They can’t forgive each other because Mink’s never done anything to Koujaku and neither has Koujaku to Mink, but they’d hope they’d forgive themselves some day, and they support each other all the way.
