Okay, so I have not read the new chapter yet, but I almost jumped out of bed last night because I remembered this line:
[“Once I’d finished steeping the tea I set it on a tray alongside a bread roll to bring up here. But before I left, I was called away by Lord Sneeg. He wanted to know if I’d washed the kitchen linens.”
Everyone in the room looked at Sneeg, who nodded. “I called her out of the kitchen to ask her that, yes.”
“Who else was in the kitchen at the time?” Phil asked the woman.]
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
Yea I will continue to blame everything in Phil.

hmmmm very interesting thing to notice :)
all I will say is that the exact dialogue going over what happened was very carefully planned on my end :)))
Something about Quackity essentially saying "It's okay, you can feel however you want here and don't have to act like someone's always scrutinising everything you do." has got me feeling things on this Tuesday night.
He probably can't move there, given the role he'll likely fulfil in life, and he may not even wish to live there in the first place. But I hope Wilbur takes regular holidays to Cedardijk every now and again once the plot is over so he can be free to chill for a few weeks at a time. God knows he'll need the breaks as a member of the court in Pandorinne if it's anything like it is now, no matter who's in charge.
YES EXACTLY this is one of the few times in wilbur's life that he's fully free to act however he wants and doesn't have to worry about it getting back to his father or anyone else in the palace. he can let go of the facade and let himself enjoy things for once. cedardijk is certainly a safe haven for him in that sense
I should throw out my Rose theories. Or like mine and Eily’s at this point:
There are only 2 potential goals for attempted murder on Sam:
Kill him so the throne goes to Niki by default, since he has not made an official choice and she has the biggest backing (not to mention it being her birthright by closest realation).
Scaring Sam and making him face his own mortality so he will man up and (be forced to) chose an heir himself. Could be in Niki’s favour. Could be in Tommy’s favour if Phil has been putting in the work over the past 3 years.
For the first motive, it can only be someone in Niki’s camp, since that’s the only person it really benefits (unless the plan is slowly killing her too, but that would be too obvious if you end up in power. The possible culprits would be:
Niki, ruthless enough to do it, gain directly from it, but it seems a little too out there for how careful she is. That being said there is a third option where she is creating these situations to take charge and prove how good of a Queen she would make, maybe so Sam can see. If she isn’t, then she is just running with what gets thrown her way. Either way, stress chapters serve to prove how much better a ruler Niki would be (both than Sam and Tommy). Given the fact that she is sorta ‘stealing’ Puffy, she could also be framing Jack to then get him into her side, thus weakening Tommy’s side even more. But that seems too far fetched to me
Hannah, I did not see this one, but Eily has convinced me of the possibility. Hannah is the person most actively pushing the blame onto Jack and getting the sword out (convenient if you want to make sure the blame does not fall onto yourself). After the arrow we clearly saw she’s on Niki’s side, thus she does gain by killing Sam. Who is going to expect lady justice to do it.
Puffy, did also clearly try to protect Niki over Tommy, thus on her side, but not directly connected enough to back fire onto Niki should she get caught (more likely to get Tommy, actually)
Niki’s supporters from outside the castle acting on their own. Possible and realistic, just not as ‘interesting’ for the plot, as in we get more friction if it is a member of the cast.
However, both attempts failed. They could have succeeded, but they failed. And I feel like they failed deliberately. I don’t remember the details of either. But the arrow was something with a rope needing to burn through and having to be done manually. That arrow was already aimed and it hit the table, not Sam. If it missed him because his chair moved that would be fair game. But the table? Seems like that was the intended target to me. (Unless it was manually fired, in which case, shit aim).
Then there’s the poison. I feel like someone who would want Sam dead, might go for something that would be more deadly or kill him faster. Tbf, the assassin could have gotten unlucky with the timing. If there’s too much delay between the tester and Sam eating it, they will catch the poison soon enough to cure it (can you tell I have not reread? I’m normally more on my a game with the details. Oh well). Idk, still feels like this was meant to scare Sam, not kill him.
Now who would that benefit? Niki, since she’s the default and clearly the best choice. If Sam feels pressured to choose, it would go to her, right? In that case the options are the same as above. The other option is someone on Tommy’s side. This leaves only one option:
PHIL
Is trusted by Sam, has the most control over him and can push for an heir, he just needs Sam to stop being stubborn about being under his thumb and listen to his suggestions. When would he do that? If he was distracted with other things? Under extreme distress? Afraid because his life is being threatened?
We know Phil is smart enough to come up with a plan like this and he has the resources to do it. He can get the poison, bribe people to set up the arrow, do it via Ranboo or Sneeg, it is also very risky, so not something he would pull off without being certain he can do it. Something he would not want to involve too many people in
Then there’s the framing of Jack, we need a culprit who would think to frame Jack, either before or after the letter, someone who knew when he would be on guarding duty at that kitchen and knew he would get the blame. Someone who doesn’t put in any effort to defend him or have him defended. (And it would have worked if Niki had not (claim she had) been with him)
This man would not tell Wilbur or Tommy about this plan, last time Wilbur showed he could not yet be trusted with the murder plans.
Also, remember Phil smothering Schlatt? That man is ruthless enough to frame Jack if he does not like him, to torture Sam like this if he’s done with his bulkshit. To slowly build it up and make sure someone else gets the blame even if he does end up having to kill Sam.
