BEST FRIEND BLACKPINK A⇴Z HEADCANON ⇴ Roseanne Park

A ⇴ ATTENTION

It was pretty natural for both of you to just pay attention to each other, you didn’t even need to ask for it. Rose liked to have her eye on you as you were usually the one that she wanted to pay attention to.

B ⇴ BICKER

You loved to bicker mostly to try and wind one another up and try and get an irritated reaction from them. You especially try and get a reaction out of Rose because at least whenever she’s bickering you for a while she’s not thinking about work and getting herself stressed about anything that’s going on.

C ⇴ COMFORT

She was always by your side whenever you needed comforting, Rose never left you alone. You often tried to tell her that she could go and that she didn’t need to worry about you, but Rose never listened, knowing that everything else could wait, but that being there for you and cheering you up couldn’t.

D ⇴ DISAGREEMENTS

There were a few rare occasions when maybe one of you said or did the wrong thing, but aside from that, conflict was very rare between the two of you. You were both relaxed around one another and knew each other really well too to stop any arguments happening. As well, you were both good at deciding to step back when you felt as if there was a chance that a problem was beginning to show itself.

E ⇴ EARLY YEARS

It didn’t take long for the two of you to start getting along with your similar senses of humour being the catalyst for your friendship. You found yourselves laughing pretty early in your friendship that instantly relaxed you both around one another, in between your giggles you opened up more and shared more about yourselves too, which brought you both together and into a close friendship as well.

F ⇴ FAMILY

Rose’s family were incredibly fond of you, knowing that you took such good care of her in Korea. Whenever Rose mentioned your name, they always paid attention as they wanted to hear what you had both been up to or what you had been doing for her. When they visited Rose or you visited Rose’s home, they always made sure to let you know just how appreciative they were of what you were doing.

G ⇴ GETTING TOGETHER

It was usually a pretty private time when you two hung out as you knew that Rose got plenty of attention whenever she left the house. You enjoyed being at her house because Rose had just about everything there to keep you entertained anyway so you didn’t even need to go out to be able to enjoy yourselves.

H ⇴ HABITS

The two of you had a habit of embarrassing each other and trying to leave the other person feeling flustered. You didn’t mind sharing your bad stories that you had of each other or trying to tease the other person too, your embarrassing stories had plenty of people laughing and you both flustered as well.

I ⇴ INSIDE JOKES

It was inevitable for the two of you to have inside jokes when you made each other laugh as much as you did. You had a long list stored in your memory of the many inside jokes that you had from over the years with Rose, as much as you wished that you could remember every single one, it was just impossible for you.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

She was definitely aware when she was around your other friends, the ones that were particularly loud or in your face definitely got Rose’s back up. She knew that she was never normally the loudest character around when she was with you and your other friends, but she was confident knowing that she was the one that was closest too and wanted for everyone else to be aware of that fact as well.

K ⇴ KICKS

Rose got a kick out of her sides hurting when she was with you. She loved the way that you managed to tickle one another and how you always managed to find a way to put a smile on her face whenever she saw you. It was exactly what she needed, without you even realising that you were helping her.

Years. For years, you were already living in Seoul, but you had still left the house without an umbrella this morning like a fool. It was like you were challenging the gods to show you how a beautiful summer day in Seoul could look like. And they delivered. As soon as you stepped out of the bus to walk the rest of the way home the downpour of the decade flooded the streets, causing you to start running like a maniac. You couldn’t hear your own footsteps because of the loud roaring of the rain, but you could feel the water splashing up your legs every time your feet hit the ground. The jacket that you held over your head in hopes that it could shield you, was soaked in a matter of seconds, causing you to curse annoyed. There was no way that you could reach your apartment in time before being dripping wet. Therefore, the little café a few houses in front of you was a very pleasant sight. You had never really taken notice of it, but right now it was a gift sent from heaven.

After a few more steps you reached the door and dramatically teared it open as if your life depended on it. Once you were inside, you gasped for air, feeling your lungs rebelling against this sudden, long- overdue workout.

“Oh my god! Are you alright?”

A concerned voice caused you to flinch in surprise and you looked around the café to see that the barista behind the counter was staring at you with wide eyes.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry for barging in like that, but I forgot an umbrella.”

You pointed at your soaked clothes while chuckling embarrassed.

“Oh no, you’re completely soaked! Ugh rain is the worst, isn’t it?”

“I’m not that drunk.” As soon a the words left your mouth, you stumbled into the wall. Behind you, a group of equally drunk college students cheered, making you cheer in response, and Rosé rolled her eyes. She was pretty sure everyone at the Christmas party was drunk but her.

You’re terrified.

One would think you’d come to that conclusion earlier, but it hadn’t occurred to you to be scared of Rose before. Perhaps when you met her, you could feel the modicum of apprehension that your body couldn’t help but feel in her presence, but never fear. Even when she divulged her secret with you, there was nothing but that bright-eyed fascination you had for her.

But for once, you tremble slightly with unshakable fear.

You’d always adored libraries, along with the books and the paperback covers. Although, you preferred hardcovers because it was very hard to bend the spines of those ones. You heard the door open, and you turned to look and see who it was. You weren’t surprised when you saw the same girl with the light auburn hair.

She always came here when you opened the library. You had no idea who she was but something about her sparked your interest. She not only had a fantastic fashion sense but also an amazing literary preference.

A ⇴ AFFECTION

Rosé relies on reassurance from your affection more than anything else, even in the busiest of arenas, the feeling of your arms wrapped around her will always encourage her to take a deep breath and relax herself.

B ⇴ BEFORE DATING

The two of you were old friends, having met when you were studying in Australia many years ago. As Rosé moved across to Korea, you stayed in Australia, only to get a job offer in Korea a few years later. Of course, almost as soon as you landed the two of you met up and caught up with one another.

C ⇴ CONFESSION

After you moved to Korea, the two of you very quickly found yourselves feeling comfortable around each other, as you had done many years prior. Once you felt as if you knew each other once again, you decided to make a small move on Rosé to see how she’d reacted. When it was received well, you knew that you had to confess to her before you risked losing out on her again, this time to another guy.

D ⇴ DATES

Whenever the two of you went on dates, they would always be kept very lowkey to try and keep yourselves out of the spotlight. You knew how much Rosé wanted to be able to live comfortably as best as she could, without cameras being pointed in her face, and so you’d often grab what you needed for your dates before heading over to her apartment, not needing to give her a reason to go out. Although it wasn’t what you were used to doing with her, it was something you were happy to do if it meant spending time with her.

E ⇴ EXPERIENCE

Rosé had seen a couple of her other members caught up in dating rumours before, and the last thing she wanted was for the same to happen to her too. She learnt a lot from other’s misfortune and knew the dos and don’ts of being able to get around with you too. Having spent years not having to worry about what others would say or do when you were different, it definitely felt like a quick 180 for you. Rosé could only apologise, no matter how understanding you were of the way things just had to be for you both.

F ⇴ FIGHTING

The two of you knew each other well enough that fights didn’t happen too often between the two of you, however, when they did, they didn’t tend to last long, with Rosé usually being the first one to crack. You knew that she’d been sensitive from a young age, in school she often flinched at any loud noises or fights around the building, and so you always tried to be careful with how you acted. But when things began to get loud, Rosé wouldn’t quite know what to do, as soon as you spotted her beginning to get upset, you’d stop yourself from yelling any further and comfort her while she let her tears fall.

G ⇴ GETTING TO KNOW HER FAMILY

You already knew of her family from many years ago, and they were thrilled to hear that you were back in Rosé’s life and taking care of her in Korea. Getting to know you again and seeing where your life had taken was something that her family loved too, over the moon that your paths had somehow crossed again.

H ⇴ HOME

Whilst Rosé enjoyed having Hank around the place to keep her company, it wasn’t quite the same as having another human to talk to. With so much of your time having to be spent at her place anyway to keep out of the way, after a few months, you soon found yourself moving in on a more permanent basis.

I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”

You were the first one to say, ‘I love you,’ after surprising Rosé on tour and seeing her show for the very first time. It hit you, seeing how far she’d come from listening to her sing songs in the classroom, you couldn’t not let her know how proud you were of her, telling her that you loved her along the way too.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

Rosé’s jealousy was definitely another emotion heightened by her sensitivity and how alert she was to other people and her surroundings. However, out of the two of you, you tended to get a little more jealous. Seeing the attention that she got was overwhelming for you at times, especially when you saw how some people acted around her. Although you always knew it was harmless, and just fan service, there were definitely times when you couldn’t help but get a bit sensitive yourself about what was going on.

K ⇴ KIDS

When she wanted to relax, Rosé would often find herself doodling little drawings in her notepad, unaware one day when she’d drawn a picture of you and her, with two little humans in between you both. A small gasp came from her when she realised what instinct had led her too, keeping the image, and the thoughts of a family to herself, silently excited about how her future could turn out with you at her side.

A Difficult Time ~ Roseanne Park

As soon as her eyes landed on you, sat backstage waiting to greet her, the corners of Rose’s mouth turned up into a smile. Her legs carried her as quickly as they could across to you, throwing her arms around you tightly.

“I’m so happy to see you here,” she whispered into your ear, feeling your arms move around her waist.

You knew it was going to be hard on her to promote all by herself, but after calling her just a couple of days earlier, you never expected her to sound quite as drained and exhausted as she did. There was no way you could watch her go through the rest of her promo all alone.

“I’m happy to be here, and to look after you as well,” you grinned as you pulled away from the hug.

It was then that your eyes got their first look at her, noticing how tormenting the week had been and acknowledging just how much of a struggle she’d gone through. Not having anyone there to rely on had taken it out of her much more than you ever expected.

“I’ve found a good restaurant for dinner tonight,” you told her as she took out her earpiece, “and don’t even try and argue with me, because I know you’ve not been eating well recently.”

Her head shook at just how well you knew her, making sure her body was in the best physical condition had been the only thing on her mind for far too long.

“It’s not been as bad as you think,” she tried to argue, not that you paid any attention.

Your eyes rolled, taking a seat whilst she sorted herself out after her performance. “When I hugged you then, your waist has never felt so small, don’t even try and pretend around me Rose.”

At times, it felt her stunned just how well you knew her, and just how easily you could pick up on even if the simplest things about her. Whilst it went unnoticed around most people, you could always see the answer, and find the solution too.

“I won’t be long,” she called out to you as she untied the ponytails that her hair was in, “but if I stop, then I’m just going to end up falling asleep at this point.”

Your eyes watched her closely, noticing how slow and careful each of her movements was. “When was the last time you even got a proper night of sleep? And I don’t mean an hour, I mean a full eight hours, the time your body actually needs?”

She could only shrug back at you, failing to recall the last time she’d managed to get her head down even for more than a couple of hours. Too many thoughts swirled around in her head every time she tried to sleep, too much worry and anxiety.

“Rose,” you whispered, feeling your heart shatter at just how little care she’d taken of herself whilst you’d been busy, away from her. “There’s a lot of work for me to do here.”

As soon as she knew you were coming to support her, Rose felt a wave of relief hit her. Whilst many others just went about their business, with you, she knew she was finally going to have someone by her side who would pay such close attention to her wellbeing.

“Just take your time getting ready for dinner, it’s on me, I want to make sure you eat as much as you possibly can,” you warned her, making yourself comfortable in the chair, “and I’m not listening to any arguments about that either.”

Her eyes rolled at how quick you were to shut her down, knowing exactly what she’d say to you. “I should be the one paying for you and thanking you for coming here to support me, not the other way around Y/N.”

Your head shook, refusing once again to listen to her. “I keep telling you, coming and supporting you is no bother at all. But I’m not the one that needs looking after right now, that’s you. And so that’s what I’m going to make sure I do.”

“It’s funny, I love you, but I hate you too right now,” she sniggered back at you.

You smiled widely in her direction before seeing her leave the room to change out of her stage outfit into something a little more comfortable. After almost half an hour, she was ready to leave the Mnet building and head out somewhere with you.

“Come on,” you smiled, standing up from the sofa, opening up the dressing room door for her to exit, following quickly behind you. “You know, it’s pretty cool getting to see all these places that you perform at these days.”

Her head looked back at you, unable to hide her proud smile at just how well she’d done for herself, knowing that you’d been there to support her from the start.

“It makes a change from some of the dodgy venues you used to watch me perform in before my debut,” she joked, shaking her head at the memories of it all. “Sometimes I miss those places though, they were the weirdest venues in the world.”

You could still recall the many crazy times you’d experienced supporting Rose at tiny venues as if it were yesterday. And yet somehow in the blink of an eye you’d suddenly found yourself watching her sell out venues to tens of thousands of people.

“You were happier back then sometimes,” you whispered, “I hate seeing you struggle now.”

Her shoulders shrugged, throwing an arm over your own, it was all part of the parcel that came with her career, even if it did add to the pressures from time to time.

“It’s all just a part of the job.”

“How?” You questioned, “no one around here takes care of you like I and everyone else used to. It’s not fair for you to have to experience this all alone, when I know for a fact that you enjoy having people around you who can support you.”

Every word you spoke was right, and Rose knew it. Her mind had been conditioned to focus on the job at hand, she’d forgotten about those around her too. Those such as you, that always reminded her that she needed to take care of herself too.

“I just want to enjoy having you with me tonight,” she admitted, “work and everything else that comes with it is a worry for another day right now. I’ve spent too much time by myself to carry on fretting about that now.”

“It’s a good job I don’t plan on going anywhere for the rest of this comeback then,” you smiled.

Her eyes widened, staring across at you in a haze of disbelief. Without words, your head nodded, assuring her that you were being honest with her.

After a few moments, the smallest of chuckles came from her, tightening the grip she had around your shoulders. “I should’ve known I could always count on you to be there for me when I needed it the most, you’ve never let me down before.”

“And I never will let you down either, we’re going to get you through this together,” you vowed, “and make sure that you are the priority too.”

“You’re the best, do you know that?”

“Well, you might’ve mentioned it once or twice.”
