"Hi, I'm Rose, and I'll be right back to you!" Rose smiled warmly at the stranger before rushing to serve food to a group of tired-looking raiders, regular customers she knew would be nice when well-fed. That done, she went back to the young woman, noticing only now her outfit, "Holy moly, haven't seen one of those in a while! Be careful," she continued in a lower voice so she wouldn't embarrass her, "They don't really shield you from radiation, they offer a little protection but nothing to write home about." Rose had seen what false advertising had done to people. But the girl, she looked strangely familiar. "Are you alone, darling?"

She emptied her rifle on the yao guai, and was grateful she didn't have to make a show of her ghoul strength because the animal had finally died, not without the help of what had to be another happy traveler. "Holy moly, that was one tough cookie!" Rose rested her empty rifle against her shoulder and smiled at the woman, blinking when she took in the surprising outfit, "Were you also after it or was it a coincidence, miss?"

The Ghouls were allowed into the bar, but everyone knew that the wrong noise would make the non-ghoul regulars and the people working there take a shot at them out of precaution, and that included the coughing. The nasty coughing that Rose knew intimately, and that she recognized from the first wheeze and led her to lunge towards the blender and turn it on even if empty, covering the noise. She spun around to go reach the coughing ghoul, her pink skirt swirling, and gently picked the yellow vial before anyone might see it, poured it on a teacup she had brought there for that very purpose, and offered it back to them so they could stop. The other waitress, Old Rhonda, got out of the kitchen, "Why is that thing on?" "Basic appliances maintenance!" Rose answered with desperate cheeriness, going next to the blender and turning it off before lifting a finger up: "A happy blender for a happy server!" That, at least, made Rhonda leave in complete disgust, and Rose sighed and nearly dropped against the counter, stressed. But her clients were beyond loyal, and they pretended not to have noticed anything. "I'm sorry, did you ask for something?" she didn't even remember if it was the client sitting there who had spoken, or someone else.

"Ma'am?" Rose knew she should probably mind her business, starting a conversation with a stranger would usually result in bullets in unfortunate places, but the woman - mutant? - was just not moving from the entrance to the city, and maybe she was in trouble. After all, Rose knew how different people weren't welcomed there, "Excuse me, is everything alright?"

Eliana is helping her snoop through Dom Leandro's things, in search of something that might help her track down a client's daughter, and that's a relief. She doesn't meet people willing to do that every day, but Eliana is absolutely wonderful. Hacking the terminal would be a piece of cake if only she could find it, but it's too late, she overhears footsteps and knows they'll be questioned if caught on that floor with no excuse for it. "I'm going to kiss you now," she warns Eliana simply, looking at the door. She does feel a little guilty, truth to be told, because Eliana is younger than her, doesn't know she's a revolting reanimated corpse, and this is just a job, all reasons why she shouldn't like the idea of kissing. But Eliana is also beautiful, and kind and brave, and Rose, feeling like a corpse or not, still happens to be a woman.

She gently pulls Eliana to her and meets her lips with hers, Rose's hands quickly going to her hair to give the impression that she's really into the kiss to whatever will walk in - and yes, she is a little too pleased when giving a kiss that should just be a distraction, Eliana's lips are soft, and Rose brings her just a little closer when the men turn around the corner and she pulls away, bringing a hand to her own lips and giving a fake coy giggle. "Excuse us!" The man gives them both one look and seems to decide they are pretty enough not to be scolded, and simply says: "Just do it upstairs, not here." "Yes, sir," Rose answers, smiling warmly, and lets him walk away, before looking back at Eliana with a guilty smile. "I'm sorry, I didn't have time to explain..."

The pain is still so acute, after twenty years, after forgetting her kids and only remembering them through Lee's words, that Rose stays quiet for a moment, can't make herself smile. But then she thinks no, she can't let Hank get that satisfaction. He ripped her kids from her, her humanity, he can't have her optimism. Not that she had meant to share any of it, but things had come up when she had learned that a young female Vault dweller was creating chaos all over the Wasteland, and she had frantically tried to figure out from which Vault, how old, what did she look like.

"I haven't really lost them, have I? I know where they are," she decides to say, and her smile comes back, "They are alive. I know my husband for all his faults would not hurt them without reason, he came out here to get them back. So as long as that's true, as long as the three of us still live..." sort of, she doesn't feel very alive and her hidden rotten arm says otherwise, "Then there is hope. We will meet again."

She dragged Lee for her arm through the trash, not exactly the sweetest, nicest spot near Shady Sands, but had she not been curious to see what was at the other end of those trees, she wouldn't have found it. "Almost there..." Rose had chosen the perfect time too: sunset. When she pushed the branches to let them pass, the sun was just at the right height for the rays to hit the small river, made the water sparkle instead of look so off. The flowers that grew around it, the quiet, and the sight of the city beneath them, filled with life, felt perfect. It would be even more so soon, when they'd get her kids back. Maybe they could have a picnic. "See? Isn't it beautiful?"

It's the last minutes of her shifts when she's asked if she can hang in there and give a hand with the machine only she seems to be able to use, so they can finish preparing the order, and Rose quickly goes back behind the counter while already in her yellow coat, pulling a few levers. "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!" she exclaims happily, and the other waitress rolls her eyes so far back Rose thinks they may fall off. She smiles warmly at the woman sitting there, "Just a minute! And would you like something to drink?"
