The Jester Laughs No More:: Monogoose [TRIAL: END]
"Well, looks like you chickadees managed to hatch a correct verdict~! Wasn't that eggsecution simply breathtaking? Why, it feels like my heart stopped just watching it!"
"Once you leave the courtroom, you'll find there's some new areas for you to squawk around in. Consider it a reward~"
And with that the goose flutters her wings and flies off, the entrance of the trial room open and beckoning you to leave.
Doesn't matter how, doesn't matter now|Elijah Hayward|Execution Reaction
So it was done. Mayoi was voted guilty. Because it was just that easy, wasn't it. And nothing Elijah or anyone else could say would convince them otherwise. Well. Whatever.
So the hacker watched as Mayoi was pulled to her death, his expession carefully blank. He expected the execution to be something quick and sensible. A hanging, perhaps, or something else of that nature.
What he witnessed was neither quick nor sensible. That girl was clearly being toyed with. Even if that girl was the murderer, she sure as hell didn't deserve that. Elijah maintained his calm facade, however, as he watched that girl run, and listened to that swan narrate. It wouldn't do to show weakness by showing how disturbed he was by this whole affair; not here, not now, not in front of all the people he hated.
Then Mayoi fell down the rabbit hole. Quite a long way to fall. Elijah, for all his effort in trying to appear emotionless, couldn't help but flinch at the sound as the girl hit the ground.
When the execution mercifully ended, Monoswan spoke to them, telling them all that the majority had been right. It really had been that easy. No lies. No traps.
"Congratulations. You were right. Wasn't that easy?"
His voice came out a computer-like monotone, devoid of any of the passion or feeling or anger he showed before. He turned on his heel and headed for the exit before he could hear any retorts. All he wanted to do now was go the fuck back to sleep.
すべてを無視 || Momoe || Execution Reaction
Momoe wasn't sure how to think there at the end, so she picked the neutral option. Voting for herself. No use putting yourself on a side where you're not 100%? Nah, more like don't put yourself into uncertainty.
Of course the moment that the votes were tallied ti felt oddly strange to see her name among the voted.
But, the final tally was up and Mayoi had been the popular pick.
The word of execution... She closed her eyes for a moment to think about that. So that was what was coming to someone?
The actual answer to the unasked question she had was answered upon the start of the execution though. She kept her eyes shut as she listened to this, she wished not to see. Hearing. Hearing was different wasn't it?
Finally it ended with that horrible noise. And Momoe's eyes opened once more. A gentle shake of her head. She felt nothing, she hadn't voted for the girl, nor had she voted against. She felt nothing for this crime they had all in some way committed.
And upon all that... Mayoi had been guilty. She reached up and ran a hand through her hair, having nothing to say. even she felt a need for silence. It would help in the long run right?
She busied herself instead with thinking on the things that Monoswan had spoken to them afterwards. They were free to go now, and there were new places to explore.
For a moment she opened her mouth as if to say something, but fell silent once more. She just wanted to go back to the somewhat semblance of calm. Though, that was likely impossible wasn't it?
Saw | Channing | Execution Reaction
So, in the end, it turned out that the class had accumulated enough votes to condemn Mayoi for the murder of Akira Ueno. The kind looking, soft spoken rabbit breeder had just been sentenced to death for a crime she probably hadn't committed. If Channing weren't shaking so much, she would have locked eyes with Shinobou just to express her hatred of her.
But all at once, the words were coming to Channing, defining what this process would ensure. The word execution fluttered around, and all Channing could think to was the history lessons she was taught of French Revolution and how criminals were publicly executed in the streets and how the streets ran red with their blood. Was that what Monoswan had planned for this girl who had been pegged for murder?
Channing couldn't bear to watch as the shackle swallowed her neck whole like a python. She did all in her power to block her fearful screams and to keep her mind from the dreadful reality of what was to come. But even with her dedication to censoring the world around her, she still heard the disgusting splat of the monitor above them.
She looked up just in time to see the blood of the rabbit breeder flowing from her broken body.
Every fiber in her being felt repulsed. She felt sickened, sickened and terrified. This...was the kind of brutal demise she wrote in her stories, but it had become incarnated into their universe. Impossible, Channing took to her genre with the understanding that none of it was real. Horror wasn't supposed to be real, it was supposed to be a ride for adrenaline junkies and those who feigned braveness. But horror was much more than what met the cinematic eye, it was real and alive amongst them today.
Or perhaps, it was gone and dead amongst them today. Despite Channing's gut warning that Shinobou was so full of s and she couldn't trust her, somehow her deductions were right and the girl had in fact murdered Akira in cold blood. That indeed eased Channing's worries if only for the fact that she hadn't been the voice to execute an innocent, but upon returning to the screen, she felt her fear renew again.
The horror and dread hadn't died alongside the rabbit breeder, alongside the killer. The true evil was still boasting her wickedness among them.
Nothing to Say | Masato | Chapter 1 | [Execution Reaction]
Even if Monoswan had said so, that Mayoi was the killer, even with the evidence stacked against her, Masato couldn't bring himself to vote for her. Was she innocent in his eyes? No. But he couldn't bring himself to condemn someone else because they protected a living thing they cared for. He understood. He didn't know her situation. He didn't know if she had any friends aside from her rabbit, he didn't know her at all. But he knew what it was like to lose someone you cared dearly about. He understood... But they were different. While he couldn't protect someone and they died, she succeeded in protecting her companion and died in their place.
Masato faced towards the mirror as the execution began. Was he watching it, or did he avert his eyes? It was impossible to tell through his mask. But he definitely reacted when her body connected with the ground. He cringed at the sound and then the screen showed her body. He stood motionless.
So that was what an execution was like. Was it cruel? Was it wrong? Yes on both fronts. Did she deserve it? He couldn't answer that. He remained silent. On one hand, he was relieved they had voted for the right person. On the other hand, was a life for a life really worth it? ... They didn't really have much of a choice in the matter now did they. How long would it be until one of his new friends here died? ... He didn't really want to think about it.
Smile, Though Your Heart Is Breaking | DJ Cat | Execution Reaction
Cat nodded. She wasn't happy with the results, but the sheer coldblooded actions Jojo had been doing to try to toss Charlotte underneath a bus had irritated her massively and actually pissed her off further than she had been. As such, she crosses her arms over her shirt, her red eyes flashing as she listens to Jojo.
Finally she makes a rude noise, a "pffbffts!" right as the jester gets dragged off.
Jeeze, Cat.
She can't bring herself more than to watch the start of the execution, a small ball of anger roiling in her stomach. The little disk jockey looks down at the side of her podium afterwards, shaking a little. When it's over, she's glad, glad, glad --
And feels even worse for it.
Lepus Cor Puella || Daisy || Execution Reaction
Well, turns out she was wrong about Shinobou not having any solid evidence. And equally wrong about Mayoi being innocent. And she'd been so loud about it, too. How embarrassing! But it's not like Daisy was about to apologize. All she felt like doing was punching a certain mortician right in her (admittedly, kind of cute) face. Why was it always the pretty ones? Still, Daisy held her composure- after all of those [REDACTED], she was pretty good at it. Her stubbornness was a vice and a virtue, it seemed. However, before Daisy could dive too deep into a self-pity party, something clicked around Mayoi's neck. The demonologist watched, startled, as the guilty girl was toyed with in such a horrible way. And then... Hearing that crunch... "... Holy fuck." Daisy dug her nails into the podium, leaving tiny indents in the wood. That... That was horrible! She had thought that there would be a hanging, or a lethal injection, or something else that wasn't barbarous. But this taunted Mayoi. It played with her like a cat would with a mouse. And then it killed her. Daisy couldn't recall ever feeling this conflicted. On one hand, Akira- someone who Daisy felt would become a friend- had been torn away from them all, because Mayoi was selfish. Because she valued a bunny above a human. But on the other hand? Mayoi deserved jail. Not this brutal execution! Could Daisy really feel satisfied knowing that? Removing her hands from the podium, Daisy brought them up to her temples, massaging her scalp. Her weave was starting to itch, and she had a nasty headache. It... Was probably best to not think about what just happened. No, that would only end badly.
