oughhdghf... rhi... ya gotta tell us... whattaya think of splat diseases like inkblot... (im so sorry if this has been asked before khbhdfs)

Splat diseases are super interesting to think about! I’m sure inklings have tons of diseases unique to them.

However, Inkblot as the creator intended implies the ‘inklings are made of ink’ head canon (since they ‘melt’), which doesnt quite fit in with my HCs.

 If I was to alter the disease to better fit bio/xeno HCs, inkblot would most likely be a fungal disease that gets into the ink sac, or perhaps the brain, and one of the side effects is overproducing both melanin and thickening / uncontrollable production of ink. The disease would be spread by other inklings getting the infected ink into their body, via cut, ingestion, etc. 

So, the disease would most likely take over the hosts brain- almost like a cordycepts!- and cause them to behave with the sole intention of spreading the disease. And the best way to do that is by having another inkling eat it- and so the best thing it could do would be to have the inkling actively seek out to ‘contaminate’ food and water sources. To do this, the disease makes its host think it’s starving so they feel constantly hungry, and seek out the nearest food source. That, coupled with their uncontrollable ink production, ensures they spread and smear the infected ink into all of the nearest food and water sources. 

Many infected inklings often look like they’re ‘melting’ because their ink is sticky, black, and being produced uncontrollably, and they often end up covered in it.

But, it’s not my disease, so I’ve tried to kinda avoid it! But I’m 100% cool with coming up with more diseases, its pretty fun :D
