don't get me wrong i love salmon run and it's always been my favorite game mode by far, the salmonid culture is very intriguing and i enjoy observing their music and architecture and ways of life. i do wish it was being tackled differently, it's been long enough that a new angle would be nice. it doesn't feel good to be playing british museum simulator with their keepsakes, and crafting gear from dumped plastic garbage that ends up a burden on their shores. please tell me there's some kind of plot twist and the way social media posts about salmonids being nuisance pests is a ruse PLEASE let deepcut realize they're doing some fucked up shit

Opening weird commissions!

While I still have my generic commissions open, I'm gonna be honest. Life is hard, and forcing myself to draw guys I'm not into is even harder. So I'm compromising by opening these: experimental art pieces done in the styles pictured above that I find pleasing to work with. Scratchy brush, limited and strange palettes, and odd angles are all part of the charm. Give me a character (or two), a general vibe, and maybe any extra details and I'll whip up something crazy and hopefully cool as fuck with it.

✦ How's it work?

You give me a character, a vibe/emotion/palette/etc, (and maybe a price range). After that, I whip up a rough sketch that I think would be fun and an estimate based on how long I think it'd take me. Probably between $50-150, based on things like "how complicated is this character?", "how many guys am I actually drawing?", and "is it a human? Because those are really not fun to draw". I'm open to haggling 'cus I don't feel like making a complicated chart for a limited time slot. Kicks rock. I'll show you the rough sketch before I do anything really cool and you can give the yay or nay before sending me money.

Sorry man art is subjective and I'm tired. If you really want, you can just throw me some moolah and a character and I'll do whatever I think is worth that. Fun for the whole family (me).

✦ Any rules?

Fandoms are fine, ocs are fine, gore is fine (encouraged actually its fun), nsfw is fine (if you're 18+), with normal exceptions (no real people, no bigoted stuff, etc). Same rules as my normal comms. If you have questions, just ask!

some niche splatoon social media / squid research lab lore:

after splatoon 1’s story ended with its final splatfest, the SRL tumblr started posting about callie being missing, including a series of short stories about the squid sisters. these posts culminated in a story mode trailer for splatoon 2 with the following caption:

they did not anticipate that everyone would assume callie was DEAD. she lost the final splatfest and it LITERALLY KILLED HER.

the fandom began to lose their minds. it was absolute chaos. for a time, the phrase “but where’s Callie?” became a sleeper agent trigger word for anxious callie stans assuming the worst about their favorite girliepop. eventually Nintendo of America confirmed that she was indeed going to appear in the next game, which finally laid the “callie is DEAD” theories to rest.

fast forward to end-of-year 2019, when Nintendo of America took over for splatoon’s socials while SRL transitioned away from tumblr (temporarily). splatoon 2’s final splatfest was a loss for marina, which historically does not end well for the idol on the losing team, and the fandom was still on high alert from The Callie Incident. on their official instagram, NoA posted the following photo:

I think you see where this is going.

mass panic descended as splatoon 1 oldheads awakened en masse, activated by the forbidden phrase. assumptions were made. theories were crafted. people were sure that marina would end up being the antagonist of splatoon 3… or maybe she was DEAD.

as it turns out, she was the one taking the photo. a separate angle of the picture was posted on their facebook the next day, revealing that it was, in fact, their yearly “happy holidays” post from the dev team.

this is, in my opinion, one of the absolute funniest things the splatoon team has ever done. the specific wording they used was a laser-guided attack on the small percentage of people who lived through the “but where’s Callie?” days of yore, and the pandemonium it caused was 100% calculated.
