Before Rosie even woke up, all the boys were awake and preparing for their favorite woman’s birthday.
Ren was hard at work on some homemade pancakes with strawberry jam, and Lawrence was busy creating a special tea: rosemary and lemon with just a dash of mint. Vince was in and out of the kitchen as he finished up decorations, but was more than happy to help wherever he could. Sano, on the other hand, was not downstairs with the others at all. Instead, he was upstairs in his room putting the finishing touches on his gift for Rosie. Sano had been a bit concerned about the gift this year, especially since it was the first of her birthday’s he was spending with them. He wanted the gift to be good, but...that had never really been his strong point. While trying to figure out what to get her, he kept the others’ advice in mind.
“Give her something that shows how much you love her!”
“I....I got her flowers last year, I guess. She seemed to like them.”
“Buy 'er something art related, maybe buy ‘er something fancy to wear. Oh, and try playin' that piano, she’ll love that!”
Unsurprisingly, Akira was the only one with helpful advice, but it was all appriciated just the same. He’d spent a lot of time shopping, more than he had in years, until finally coming up with something he thought fit all those criteria while still being...relatively useful and tasteful. He also thought Akira’s music suggestion; while bringing an entire piano to the house was probably not the most practical, he did have a far more mobile instrument. He left that in the room for now, focusing his efforts on the main gift.
He spent more time wrapping the present than he anticipated, probably because he’d never actually wrapped one himself before. It took a few tries, but he’d brought plenty of the paper just in case. He decided to tie it with a forest green bow so as not to completely overwhelm with the pink. Finally, it was ready. As Sano exited his room to go downstairs though, he nearly ran into Rosie in the hallway.
“......!” He had the present in his hands (it was big enough that it required two to hold it securely), but it was wrapped, so he wasn’t concerned. After the momentary surprise of running in to her, his expression melted into a gentle smile, one he rarely gave anyone outside this house.
