Many of you probably know of Rosemary Wells from her Max & Ruby books and cartoons, but for me, Wells will always be synonymous with the National Book Award-nominated "Stanley and Rhoda" (1978). Never have I seen such true-to-life depictions of siblings as in the three little stories in this hilarious picture book. Insulting each other one minute only to offer assistance moments later . . . freaking out over something and then realising that it's okay because big brother is there . . . Stanley and Rhoda are the siblings we all know we've been, hahaha! And the best part is that Wells' illustrations, at first glance seeming to be all sweetness and adorably round animals, convey such side-splitting subtlety of expression, from rolling side-eye to "how did this even happen?!" I cannot recommend this book highly enough! A Day in the Studio - It’s a Family Event!

Do you want to be an author and illustrator? Come meet award-winning children’s author, Rosemary Wells as she discusses her work as an author and an illustrator, and takes us on a visit to her studio through a video presentation.

Rosemary Wells’ career as an author and illustrator spans more than 40 years and 120 books. She is well known for the Max and Ruby series, which follows the everyday adventures of sibling bunnies.  Other books include Hand in Hand, Ten Kisses for Sophie, Felix Stands Tall, Fiona’s Little Lie, My Very First Mother Goose and many, many more! Following the presentation, there will be a book signing. Book sales will be provided by Bienville Books.
