oc concept i've made called happy fever
Dear Gus,
You woke up with a high fever yesterday and it’s carried over to today. Mom’s working and you spent the entire day sleeping/sweating on me while we lazed about. I hate that you don’t feel well, but I’ve loved your eagerness to snuggle.
Dad.
North Little Rock, Arkansas. 2.16.2020 - 11.35am.
UPDATE: Your mother has diagnosed you with roseola.
More doctors
Ray stayed home with me yesterday because he started a different antibiotic Sunday and we wanted to give it time to work. I had a meeting that it was OK to bring him to, so we went to that and then to an appointment with my doctor, who I wanted to see because of chronic issues I had been experiencing with my wrist.
As I was telling her about the pain, she pointed at Ray in his stroller and said, “Well, that’s your problem right there!” She had me let him out of the stroller so she could watch how he moves, and she 100% agrees there is no physical reason why he shouldn’t yet be walking. Her advice? “Stop carrying him everywhere. Make him get there on his own. All you’re doing now is enabling him.”
I shared this with my dear friend N, and she totally agreed, even though neither of us would have thought of this.
So, that afternoon, I gave Ray the choice of crawling or walking while holding my hands when we moved around the house. He wasn’t happy about it, but he did it. Then this morning, when we got inside daycare, he walked holding my hands to his classroom. And this afternoon when I picked him up, he walked holding my hands from his classroom all the way to the car. And when we got to the pediatrician’s office, he did the same thing from the car to the waiting room. Progress!!!
Did you catch that mention of the pediatrician’s office? Yup, we were back again today... For those playing along at home, this marks three in-person appointments and two phone consultations since Thursday. The latest reason: a rash that had suddenly appeared across Ray’s chest and back that his teachers discovered when he woke up from his morning nap.
We saw the family nurse practitioner, and I walked her through everything that had happened the past few days. She asked if the rapid strep test was super clear, and I said no - the line was really faint. So she’s convinced that Ray never had strep at all - that he had (and has) roseola, which is a viral infection. So no more antibiotics.
Although she seemed confident, the FNP said there’s a chance the rash is an allergic reaction to the new antibiotic. Because he has a family history of drug allergies, specifically with antibiotics, the FNP is playing it safe and referring Ray to an allergy specialist for testing. As she put it, she doesn’t want anyone to hesitate to prescribe him antibiotics in the future when he really needs them because of this uncertainty.
So, one more day at home with my boy and then 🤞 back to normal.
finally made a proper ref for roseola!
happy fever
Infeksi Virus

Poor Sophie has Roseola - or what my doctor called "the 3-day measles". A couple days of fever and then a rash (difficult to take pictures as she won't stay still), as well as fragmented sleep for all. Amazing what she can catch never leaving the house. #roseola #BabySophieC #12monthsold #sickbaby https://www.instagram.com/p/CJtwRWBgDm5/?igshid=1e0gmd5vw7ycb
