1. What was your first cosplay?
Oh no, not this one. I was dreading this.
My very first cosplay was a long time ago. This was over 10 years ago, back in my young weeb years. I, for reasons unknown, really liked Love Hina at the time. This was when it was a fairly new anime — I think it had maybe /just/ been licensed in the US that year or the year before?
Well, I had my mom help me to make a Naru cosplay. It was one of her outfits from the episode where she becomes an idol singer, so it wasn’t her main outfit. I probably looked kind of silly, being a small human in this cosplay that my mom mostly made but I helped with some of the sewing (with her direction, since I had never sewn anything before) without a wig or anything, but hey, I had fun, and I worked hard from there, and now look at me! I’m halfway decent! ;P
I don’t have any pictures, but I probably wouldn’t post them, even if I did. Though, the cosplay scene was quite different then, and things like using weird materials or not having a wig was common. My skirt was pretty nice, from what I remember. The cosplay probably wasn’t as terrible as I’m remembering it to be, though really, was anyone’s first cosplay good? Especially if they started at a young age? (It’s easier now to have a decent first cosplay, but it’s still something that takes some learning and practice.)
I have to say, though, one of the first things I ever wanted to cosplay, waa~aay back in the day? Julia from Cowboy Bebop. Now look at me. I’ve come full circle. I finally fulfilled that dream.
