( @rosethcrned ) asked : “i’ve been asked to be the general’s aide - don’t you agree i’d be better off fighting?”
Aaron sighed in partial amusement as he regarded Alexander's hopeful visage. It was clear he was looking for support in convincing the General, but he wouldn't be getting it from him. The other's fire and passion were admirable, but his skills were so much better suited to the quill than the rifle. Besides, much as it ired him that he'd been brushed aside in favour of Alexander, there was a greater purpose here, and he would not let a bit of jealousy be their downfall.
"I think you should temper that fire. Talk less, smile more. You've been given an opportunity here, Alexander. This is one of a kind, you know that right?" From this moment on, history has its eyes on him, and Aaron has faith that Alexander can bear the weight, as he's done up till now.
"What I wouldn't give to be where you are—" It's a whisper on the wind, and he has to wonder if anyone will ever hear it. His eyes raise once more to lock with his friend/rival. "Don't throw away this shot."
