YAAAY sixth pull for the OC Reference Project was Rosetis Goldenne!
The mother of Vivilinie, and sister of Bali, Rosetis Goldenne was once a very average young mother with a marriage she was reasonably... content in. It was a bit rough, but as a woman in Chamstan, she had relatively few other prospects and was determined to make the most of it.
That led to her downfall. Betrayed by her husband, cursed with dark magic, and then set from her home, horrid illness began to befall her, and she suffered for months growing worse and worse, only surviving thanks to generosity from mages and healers. Pregnant with her daughter at the time, she wanted to at least stay alive long enough to birth her, but her future looked... grim.
Begging to whatever Gods would listen to save her, she ended up drawing the attention of a then-sleeping Elphaie, the Daughter of Blood; Once herself betrayed and cursed into this eternal sleep by her own lover, the story and stirrings of the world around Rosetis were enough to ease Elphaie's own curse, and allow her to awake. Freshly awoken, and sympathizing with a woman so like her even so long after centuries of slumber, Elphaie named Rosetis her Champion, and gifted her the ability to live despite the curse.
Now the only person in the world to know that Elphaie was not a supposed "Dead God", as Encevine claimed, and given visions of the future to guide others, Rosetis decided to carry out Elphaie's will in this world. The easiest way to do this, of course, was to get a group of worshipers together - technically, they're considered a cult, as Elphaie's worship is usually outlawed or considered meaningless due to her official status as a Dead God. Anyone is welcome to join, so long as they believe (and most do, after Rosetis speaks with them, or they see Elphaie's work), and so they've been growing rapidly in the few years they've been active.
Strangely enough, worship of Elphaie seems exceptionally popular with women from Elsum.
Rosetis is incredibly lethargic and tired, chronically fatigued and struggling to do most things herself, needing frequent help from others. Elphaie sends her many visions, and directs her actions and how to best help herself and others; The biggest move the cult ever made was after Elphaie directed Rosetis to begin aiding the Free March, as Elphaie’s own enemies, and the Free March’s, were the same.
