☕️ — A Break.

Thorn had been working all week, and she had freshly gotten off a mission that went… As smoothly as possible for the Black Hat Organization. Which was cause for a reward! At least, in her eyes. Thankfully Black Hat allowed the cast the rest of the day off, and she decided to take advantage.

After taking a much needed shower, she threw on some casual clothes. She wore a simple tank top and baggy sweatpants as well as some regular house slippers. She almost felt… Normal. For once.

Heading down to the kitchen of the manor, she moved to start preparing a pot of coffee, already feeling the caffeine withdrawal headache getting to her without it. She set it to make, and she leaned against the counter with her arms crossed over her chest, letting out a leisurely sigh.

Her guard was pretty much down. She wasn’t around any of the others since she didn’t exactly have friendships with any of them other than Flug, and he was most likely busy. She didn’t mind the solace, but company would be nice.

Hartz peered in through the door way, only the top half of her body visible yet her face was almost shrouded in shade due to her unkept hair.

"Thorn! May I come on in? It's certainly been a while since we've had a chat." She had a gentle smile on her, a grin that didn't fully show all get teeth. Not been the one larger canine. The woman looked..normal today.

Thorn was obviously confused at this, used to Hartz just kind of letting herself in or staring, but she nodded.

‘Sure-? Come in,’ She called, sitting up criss-cross on her bed and tilting her head slightly at Hartz. ‘So.. Chat? What is there to uh.. Chat about?’ She asked curiously, sounding genuinely confused and intrigued.

A ship in the shape of a black top hat lands near the church. Its door opens, and out steps the dark silhouette of a man. His appearance is cloaked by the permanent fog that surrounds the cemetery.

Two small bouquets of flowers he holds. Effortlessly jumping over the gate, he strides towards the center of the cemetery. An air of remorse follows him. Thicker than the fog.

He stops in front of two graves, slowly gets down on his knees, and places the bouquets in front of each headstone.

A drip os heard from his direction. Then another. The sounds are slow but audible. Nothing around could be making any noise.

At least, nothing should.

Liam was at his own gravestone, staring at his name and the death date, taking it all in like he never could before. The roses adorning the headstone, the birthday cards from every year he hadn’t been there, all from her.

He felt horrible for leaving her alone so long. He knew how much his death traumatized her.

He was snapped out of his thoughts by the sounds of the ship and then the drips in the usually silent cemetery, his head whipping in the direction of the noise to try and find its source.

He sees the silhouette of the man, his eyes going a bit wide for a moment before he held out his hand, seemingly channeling some sort of energy.

A rose grew skillfully, almost mesmerizingly from the ground in between the headstones the man was in front of, the sight one that was familiar, yet all anew.

Liam seemed to be trying to send his condolences as well. He knew of the trying times people that grieved went through, he was looking at it firsthand from reading the letters left by his sister.

Thorn seems to have hung up the phone.

[The charity ball was in full swing…]

[Well, it was less of a “charity” ball and more like a swanky excuse for villains all over to come and give BHO money, if they didn’t have enough already. It was all Black Hat’s idea, of course.]

[But hey, it was packed. Villains from all over came, filling the ballroom with the hopes that they could possibly gain Black Hat’s favor. Even if the initial idea was a bit stupid, it was a great business opportunity for all parties.]

[Thorn stood above it all, peering down into the crowd from the mezzanine.]

[Employees of BHO were tasked with mingling with the guests, using any tactic they could to drain them of their cash.]

[She had been taking a break, enjoying the view when a tall partygoer bumped into by accident.]

Thorn jumped slightly, clinging onto the railing of the mezzanine for a moment before standing back tall again, having been wearing a semiformal dress for the occasion to look more… Welcoming? She had no idea. All she knew was she had to raise money for the organization.

‘No, no! You’re fine..’ She chuckled awkwardly, giving the partygoer a shy smile before she cleared her throat. ‘Here for the event? Because uhm… I think it’s a good work for villains all over! Evil is our business! And business.. Is goood..’ They trailed off slightly, feeling very awkward advertising to this poor woman who had bumped into them.

They just hoped she wouldn’t walk away.

Oh, to be normal again.

Thorn couldn’t help but think sometimes… What life would be like if she could freely be a normal person again. Or, as much as she was before. Maybe she could make an elaborate disguise and just… Go to the store again.

She used to do that all the time with old company.

So that’s what she decided to do. But instead of an elaborate disguise, she decided she would just wear her late brother’s old hoodie, and have the hood over her head to hide herself.

She put her hair up in a full bun, then she put the hood over it, and began to make her way to walk to the city.

Hat Island was a pretty far off island from land, so she grew a pair of vine wings from her back, the vines winding and weaving deliberately before they finished… And she was able to spread her wings and fly off to Atreno.

She landed in a secluded area, then she reabsorbed the wings back into her back, letting out a sigh before beginning to walk to the mall.

Once she got there, she tried her best to keep her head down without seeming too suspicious. A well known villain trying to blend in with normal people could come off as sinister.

She was pulling it off, but only until she accidentally bumped into someone, the hood going down enough to reveal her face and her front bangs as she tried to cover herself again,

‘S— So sorry! I didn’t mean to!’ She immediately apologized, trying to make sure they weren’t angry at her, looking up at them with a startled expression.
