The Chesme Column is a rostral column, or victory column, commemorating the Russian victories in the Russo-Turkish War, specifically the Battle of Chesma. Made of white and pink marble, the Doric column is decorated with ship bows and crowned by a bronze eagle, the Symbol of Russia, trampling a crescent, the symbol of Turkey.
