Guys, we need to have a serious conversation
Disclaimer (sennò i giancazzi si arrabbiano): This is strictly my opinion, and I am more than open to dialogue.
I don't like too much the duo Frye - Roth. But I must admit that they are two characters who wanted to live according to their rules, and don't want to follow society expectations (or in Jacob's case his father's rules). And probably they are two faces of the same coin, but Jacob is better.
I know that Jacob is bi-sexual. It has been confirmed by Ubisoft lead writer,Jeffrey Yohalem. During the game we can see that he is interested in both Maxwell Roth* and Pearl Hattaway.
The missions involving Roth seem like dates, and represent their growing fondness for each other. Jacob is happy to spent time with Roth.
The third mission, “Fun and Games”, ends with Roth who is more than fine with killing kids, and that’s a big no for Jacob.
The fourth and final mission is called “Final Act”. It's the mission in which Jacob must assassinate Roth.
After Jacob delivers the killing blow, he and Roth share that familiar AC moment where the assassin speaks with their target in their final breaths. What makes this encounter stand out is that Roth unexpectedly kisses Jacob.
Step by step, Jacob pleads with Roth, asking why he tried to burn children alive. His tone isn’t detached and his face shows real anguish. But where does this pain come from? Is it only because of the children, or also because he feels personally betrayed by someone he may have cared for?
During the kiss Jacob pulls back, and his expression shows disgust, heartbreak...or both?
That's open to interpretation
But, in my opinion however you look at it
THIS KISS IS NOT CONSENSUAL
This kiss is not consensual. It's an act of power, not fondness.
Probably Maxwell liked Jacob, but in this moment he wanted to have the last word and assert his power.
I know Jacob feels betrayed, but there’s no chance he would have accepted being kissed like that.
I ask you the crucial question:
What if the roles had been reversed? What if Evie had been there instead of Jacob?
*I would call that Daddy Issues but who am I to judge
