Day 9. Rough/Mock up ✏️ When I start a piece of taxidermy, often enough there isn’t anything similar enough online or any material I can find to reference from. So I used real photographs of live animals and draw what could be the finished piece. I’ve had to do that quite a lot for the last few commissions so me and my client have an idea of what it could potentially look like. I’ve put a few of these visuals here, they are rough sketches with a bit of added colour. I’ve also put here rough sketch of a fleshing beam that @ian_rosie created for me. The initial sketch was to help find a solution to creating a fleshing beam for my vice in my workshop. You can see I tend to write lots of other irrelevant things around sketches as I like to write to do lists, and sometimes they mix into sketches etc 😂 I am organised chaos. I also do this with my textile sculpture and embroidery. The last couple photos are my own technical files I keep when I go to the taxidermy conference, on a course or when I find our tips and tricks. So I can refer to them at a later date. The last photo is my books I keep these in, including my new visuals and process book which I will use in the future. . . . #marchmeetthemaker #roughmockup #sketches #drawing #draw #wildlife #birds #mammals #books #taxidermy #process #ideas #taxidermist #sketching #sketchbook #taxidermyart #wip #commissions #day9 (at Taxtiles) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9gVTLyJ455/?igshid=1ibucrvd902hw
