The faint sign yesterday at the Blue Bird Inn, likely to be demolished soon. I always loved seeing the happy logo on the road to my grandparents’ house, but the place has been abandoned for years and now the bluebird is all but gone. According to the Mt. Olive Chronicle, “The Blue Bird (located close along Route 46) is a faded reminder of the years when Budd Lake was a tourist destination. Visitors from New York and beyond would have dinner at the Blue Bird and maybe spend a day sunbathing at the beach of Budd Lake. The Blue Bird was known to cater to celebrities who came to entertain at the casino at the western end of Budd Lake, which was later converted into a town hall and finally demolished in the late 1990s. One of those big names reported to have been seen there was Jackie Gleason.” #abandonednj #abandonedplaces #buddlake #route46 (at Budd Lake, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/B29E7m0He03/?igshid=x5n2rmmkb290
