sometimes i change punctuation from text graphics when i write a description—in particular adding periods, em dashes (—) and line breaks

this is because commas, colons, semi-colons, and dashes (-) and en dashes (–) in particular don't read as longer breaks +

a lot of blind/visually impaired/low vision people who regularly use screen readers use them at double, triple etc speed, so even the longer pauses are miniscule and this can affect overall comprehensibility of the description +

it's also helpful for people who are newer to using text to speech programs and adjusting to relying solely or almost solely on auditory processing

that's all lol

i also generally don't put all caps in descriptions unless they're actually abbreviations, because sometimes, some TTS programs read out the individual letters of anything capitalized, and that's. not fun or great for comprehensibility. 🙄
