The whole idea of "Autogynephilia" really is one of the biggest examples of why we need to actually look at what values underlie bigoted stereotypes and beliefs instead of just saying they aren't true.

"Autogynephilia" as a justification for opposing or denying transition is pure sex negativity, it is the belief that being motivated by sexual pleasure is immoral, that to modify one's body for the purpose of sexual pleasure is illegitimate and harmful, and that open displays of sexuality are offensive, disgusting, and not deserving of respect.

Now, the thing is that I don't belive that, and you (dear reader) probably don't either. Maybe instead of just trying to claim that this idea isn't true (even if it genuinely isn't for most people), perhaps instead we should ask what the problem would be if it were? Why is it so bad that people be able to do what makes them happy? Why should I be opposed to something that brings others pleasure without harming anyone?

It is also the case that perhaps there is a woman out there in the world who did transition purely for sex reasons. She (if she exists) should not have to live her life worried that her existence hurts her sisters, she should not have to have her existence denied in the fight for her own rights. She should not become marginalised within her own community for the sake of appeasing their shared oppressors.

"That's not true!" is easy, "Even if that is true, so fucking what?" is radical. The above is merely an example, I think this idea is one that should be applied broadly throughout queer politics.

Since transfeminism was coined in 2001, its usage has morphed and changed. At present, the dominant strand of transfeminism does not promote unity and solidarity. Instead, it has fallen into relying upon toxic and often separationist politics- a crude distortion of the founding ideas of transfeminism. Emi Koyama, author of The Transfeminist Manifesto, was explicit in transfeminisms inclusion of all trans people in its movement. She wrote that transfeminism began primarily for trans women and that "it is also open to other queers, intersex people, trans men, non-trans women, non-trans men and others". Her initial publication of The Transfeminist Manifesto was in the year 2001. Two years later, she revisited it and added the following in the postscript of the 2003 edition "I take full blame for the fact that this manifesto is heavily focused on issues male-to-female transsexual people face, while neglecting unique struggles that female-to-male trans people and other transgender and genderqueer people face". Numerous other transfeminist publications recognise the need for greater solidarity between all trans people and for transfeminism to be explicitly inclusive of all transgender and nonbinary people. Talia Bettcher explained in 2017 that "since trans men are also vulnerable to sexism, transphobia, and the interblending thereof, trans feminism would be ill-advised to exclude them from its purview". Despite the academic push for greater inclusion and solidarity, socially these ideas have not manifested. And so transunitism was created to bring awareness to these ideas with clarity of intent and purpose. [...] A synthesis of transunitism theory and transfeminism results in what the transunitism movement stands for. It is my hope that through transunitism theory, we will create a trans community that includes all, aids all and fights for all.

oh its like talking to a fucking funhouse mirror with these people tbh. its the same with that one guy who was like "checkmate MRA, women in the 19th century were legally property and couldn't wear pants!!" when that. is literally an example of how trans men were also directly systemically affected by misogyny.

these people never stop for one single second to think of trans men who never get to transition. they never think about the countless trans men throughout history who have lived and died as women. who have been subject to child marriage and clitorectomies and been treated as legal property. they don't think about trans men in countries right now who go through all of those things, who legally cannot be outside without a male guardian because they are legally female, who cannot even get their own passport because they are legally female. its so fucking frustrating.

radical feminism has its hooks so deep in some parts of the trans community, and frankly a lot of people have internalized trans separatist talking points. even if they don't realize it they don't seem to think of trans people as a coherent group. all trans people's experiences are seen as just a shadow cast by cis men’s privilege and cis women’s oppression, and our experiences are reducible to cis men and cis women's experiences but slightly different.

and, i have to say this again: this is literally how TERFs think, but in reverse. TERFs also ignore how trans men are worse off than cis women, and how trans women are worse off than cis men, and insist that all trans experiences are reducible to "men are privileged women are oppressed." its literally just a matter of which trans people you cram into which side of the cis binary. this is not good transfeminism and it never ever will be.

it sucks that the overwhelming majority of medical messaging around salt/sodium is "evil poisonous substance that you're definitely already eating way too much of," because like. you do still need it. (trust me, as a POTS-haver, I've had to completely rewire my own brain about salt.) and you need more salt when the entire northern hemisphere is hot enough to fry an egg on. ever tried sucking down the recommended 64oz of hydration per day entirely as water, only to find you're peeing constantly without any of the purported benefits of being "hydrated"? assuming you don't have another medical condition that causes frequent urination, your body probably needed more salt/electrolytes to be able to hold onto that water and make use of it. if there was ever a time to keep a sports drink/pedialyte/etc within constant reach, it's when the heat index is 110°F/43°C.

If you’re a woman worried about “getting bulky”, i promise you that you cannot achieve that physique by accident. Now go lift weights to increase your bone density & protect yourself from osteoporosis and improve your insulin resistence and eat a fiber + protein dense meal with some carbs to refuel and fat for satiety + energy 🫵
