ugh I remember those blogs and there also were fantroll review blogs and I at like 14/15 got rlly nervous abt whether my troll was 'okay' or not and felt the need to send one in to to check, it took out a lot of fun of fantrolls and I'm really glad that phase is over :p

could you talk about your lapis fangems? I really like their designs, especially the teardrop gem one!

heres what i was thinking lapis lazulis seem like solitary gems. at least i get that impression because canon lapis is the only one we’ve seen thus far. but these two work together. mute lapis (with the chest gem) is seen as somewhat defective because shes very selectively mute, with very little control over her powers (and her emotions) but she’s also really strong. cheek lapis is a lot more poised, with more grace and does the talking for both of them. she also thinks very highly of herself and wants mute lapis to be just like her

I’m thinking they get seperated at some point maybe because of the war on earth, or some other thing and mute lapis gets really scared, runs away and hides and then runs into softie bismuth

i looked to see the pic you were referring to and i think it looks normal? it just gives the impression that it's in reddish/pink light and since grey is such a neutral colour it makes sense it'd be one to appear to be affected more by lighting

well i kinda warmed up to these colors and i’m gonna keep the strong warmth!! but i’m removing most of it off karkat’s skin

the thing is when you apply filters you usually remove or tone down the parts of it that would objectively alter something more than what you need or intend to. not only that but my mistake here is that i had already laid down a base color palette that implied a warm atmosphere, so everything including karkat’s skin was already affected by it and there was no need for a strong warmth boost like that >_> but since warm/cold filters are a thing i apply automatically at the end of 90% of what i color, yesterday i just sort of made this new layer to boost up the warmth, didn’t touch anything further and saved without a care in the world because?? brain farting i guess
