"Alice From Dallas" - The Painting

After an attack by German fighters, the B-17F “Alice From Dallas” is seriously hit on the left wing by sudden and precise fire of German Flak around 10:20 a.m., above Belgian territory. There seems to exist two different stories about what downed "Alice From Dallas" this day: the first, and well-spread on the Internet, is the Flak version. The second is the fighter attacks, and this is the version written on MACR n°678 by Lt. B. A. DeMarco that is showned in the miniserie.
I did this painting last year to pay tribute to the "Alice From Dallas" crew, after having seen the Masters of the Air about the Schweinfurt-Regensburg mission (EP3). I choose the Flak version story, and painted the B-17 from above to show the extensive damages sustained at this day, moments before the bail out bell sounds by 1Lt Roy F. Claytor. I tried to be "accurate" in regards to this scene in EP3, as there are not much details available in the archives.
