(I’ll admit when I first watched brohood, I was a little sad that Ed still had his automail leg and that he had to give up his alchemy, tho I get why he did it. Reading the manga actually made me okay with all of that. And really unless the choice was completely taken away from Ed, I don’t see another way regarding his alchemy and it was his decision.
Greed died : (
Al getting Ed's arm back and wondering how Ed would pull him from the gate D :
All the sub plots were tied up and there was a side to Roy shown that was interesting as hell to me.
I didn’t have near as many sad feels at the end of brohood or questions. The story line was pretty clear cut and solid imo. Greed dying for good was the saddest thing in this one I think. Roy losing his sight was sad but clearly he'd get it back sooo. I was a little disappointed I didn't get to see Roy talking to Truth or more with him going through his gate.
I was annoyed that Roy would think Ed would begrudge him using the stone to restore his sight because Ed wouldn’t and I was like, seriously, Roy what even.
I really liked seeing Ed grow up. That was awesome and not something I’ve seen a lot in anime or manga. He got to somewhat grow up not only physically but emotionally and mentally too : )
And Roy’s shitty mustache needed to go -_-
13. Explain how you felt/your reaction at the end of the original.
(I was pretty upset that Ed got his body back only to lose it again. I think I’m the only person I know in the fandom that was rooting for Ed to restore his body completely. lol. Still not sure why he lost his leg again, tho since his arm had to do with Al’s soul but there are some things in the first anime that will forever remain a mystery… but I felt Ed got hosed big time by that. I wanted to kick that shitty gate tbh.
And then the poor guy ends up in a world not his own with Hohenheim of all people {I really didn’t like Hoho in the first anime at all} and he can’t even use alchemy to get back, probably didn’t know the language well, and was stuck during WWII era. And he didn’t even have his automail mechanic either. Being a double amputee in that time period would be difficult since medicine for infections and other possible complications were crap back then.
That’s a shitty deal, my friend.
What made it even more sad was that brohood Ed probably would have adjusted better than Ed in the first anime. First anime Ed was more broken : / OMG, I know he’s only a fictional character but all that stuff went through my head.
And Al’s dying after even though he came back only to come back having lost all those memories he made with his brother... super sad things. The first anime was a good foil for brotherhood/manga. Even though there were similarities, it had so many stark differences that countered what happened in brohood. Made me want to cuddle the brothers and tell them they could come live with me and not have a shitty life.)
14. Which character death affected you the most and why?
(In the first anime, Ed and Al’s death for sure. It was a shock because you don’t see shows that will kill off the protagonist like that only to have their baby brother restore them by dying. Who does that? 2003 FMA, that’s who.
In brohood,Hughes’ death. The whole sub plot with Roy’s obsession with finding Hughes’ killer really drove the nail in with how important he was even though Maes wasn’t in brohood for very long. The initial funeral in the first anime was a lot sadder but the hunting down of Hughes’ killer in brohood solidified his friendship with Roy more for me. That’s only my own personal perception for that but it made Hughes' death more potent.)
19. You wake up in their universe somewhere in Central. What’s the first thing you do?
(smack Roy’s ass… lol, no seriously, tho I’d be like, Roy can I touch your butt for a second or at least take a look under your butt skirt? and then we’d play chess!)
