Years had gone by where neither crossed an unspoken pact. From the frail girl that saw him seeking the teaching of her father, to the woman that pleaded for the burden on her back to be relieved by the very monstrosity she allowed into the world -- he had always come into the right time, always spoken the necessary words. She wished to protect him from all harm, keep his ideals from being tainted and upon the right path. And she knows that seeing him other as a leader, as would simply hurt not only his chances but her capacity to stand at his side.
Fear was a perfect way to cut any sprouting feeling. Alas, they were stubborn and managed to be nurtured away from her terrifying gaze. Because if they had not, how come she not opposed the way he placed such a gentle kiss upon untainted lips? That she allowed herself the world to stop and merely, bask into that brief instance.
And of course, he regrets it like any logical man would. Riza cannot consider it painful, for this was not appropriate and that meant he knew this could be a problem in the long run. Unfair but that was the life they choose.
“No need to apologise, sir.” It was a calm take, contrary to her fast-paced heartbeat. Keeping herself under control came naturally to the point she wondered what was needed to show more emotion. She has cried, grieved and screamed loudly at the notion of losing him -- never in front of him, never had her heart poured itself upon the one that needed it the most. Her hardened heart ached for comfort, locked away forever. “As long as I do not become any kind of hindrance in your goal, there is no need to fret over this.” A vague attempt at reassurance though unaware if she was saying it to herself rather than him. She takes in his hand onto her own, offering a small smile that tried to express what her words could never: don’t worry, I am here for you.
