Random thoughts are back. I’m thinking about how AU Shiomi Yoru thinks when she gets out of the House of Spiders, she will immediately give Ryōshū away for adoption. Like that’s perfectly rational to her but obviously Ryōshū would be like “WTF mom??? Why are you throwing me away” the parallel of this to Raiden Shogun and Kunikuzushi….

She didn’t do it because she hates Ryōshū like the canon universe, but because she just knows she’s been a terrible mom and has no plans to change it tbh. There is no “I did my duty as a mother and now I’m done” because she didn’t really even think about duties or anything like that. She just thought of Ryōshū as her belonging that she had to carry with her out of the house, because she doesn’t want the house to break her things anymore.

But after getting out then that survival thinking gets thrown out the window and she wants to live without Ryōshū. Because yk she just turned 25 here, she got a whole life ahead of her. Spent 5 years raising a kid, it was fulfilling (?) but she doesn’t want to be held accountable for it forever so she just wants to cut ties while Ryōshū would never understand why.

I have a whole sequence in my head where Ryōshū believes firmly that her mom is coming back to get her, but even if she doesn’t, Ryōshū doesn’t blame her as much as she blames the Nursefather for forcing her mum away from her. That is because ☝️ she is still coping that her mom still loves her even if they’re not together. If Shiomi came back just to essentially disown her after she tore down the House of Spiders herself, it’s going to ruin her, and she’ll end up fighting Shiomi instead. But after that, she’ll just be an empty husk, having no past, present or future. The person who gave her life meaning essentially said she was better off living without her. So why exist at all?

Imagining after killing your fake family then your real family comes to tell you all they felt about you was fabricated as well…. Just keep cutting away even after there’s nothing left to cut…
