*DEZEEN AWARDS 2020 - INSTALLATION DESIGN OF THE YEAR* We are delighted that our #RAWrainbow Community Public Art Project has been announced the winner of the Installation Design of the Year, in the Dezeen Awards 2020. From an international shortlist, the judges award went to the #RAWrainbow demonstating that "In these trying times it is particularly inspiring to see projects that encourage communal behaviour within the limits of health restrictions. This project builds a sense of community within the confines of difficult current circumstances." A very long day exploring the docks of London. Started at the Battle of Britain memorial on the Thames opposite the Millennium Wheel. Then off to North Greenwich for tbe cable car across to the Royal Dock and Silvertown, then the Olympic village. On the cable car had an aerial view of an area that would have been smashed and burning 80 years ago. And more pictures to follow when I headed off later in the day to the Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf, and the Surrey docks area. The 15th September is an important date for two reasons. If the Luftwaffe had quickly destroyed the RAF it would have been invasion day on 14th September 1940. But the RAF was stronger than Herrmann Goring assumed and 15th September was the key battle when the Luftwaffe hoped to finally beat the RAF with vast more air power. They did not succeed. The blitz and the Battle of Britain continued, but at night. The 15th was the day the RAF finally got the upper hand.
