Would it be fair to describe Trip's voice just now as a desperate whine? He might not find that very flattering, but we're calling a spade a spade.
He walked over, frowning, looking quite upset about something, and presented—his backpack?
It's open, perhaps there's something inside?
"Is it still there? Is my camera okay?"
A small, sparking Joltik peers up, sitting on Trip's prized digital camera, doubtlessly feeding off the battery. Trip held the bag far, far away from himself and seemed to be stubbornly refusing to look at the little Bug/Electric type.
((You said you're always accepting Bug types, so more Bug types for Alder!))
The commotion has Alder snapping to attention, head whipping around to scope out who needed his help before landing on the familiar young man presenting his bag.
His initial alarm fades away to be replaced by a healthy amount of sympathy. A quick gesture prompts Trip further along until he's close enough to peek at whatever the problem seemed to be-- oh!
Despite Trip's understandable worry, Alder can't help the big grin that plasters itself across his face. Why, inside the bag is a Joltik! The little Bug-Type "Darlings of Unova"!
"Aah, I can't say for certain. The battery might need a replacing-- or recharging, but I doubt this sweetheart can do much harm, eh?"
He comes closer now, enough to carefully push his hand in the bag. Before the inevitable shock could come from the build up of electrical energy within, all the hair on Alder's arm stood on end and he pulled it back. Instead of going right for the Joltik, he instead scooped up the camera it perched on and carefully raised them both out of the bag.
"Hey, friend." Alder speaks so warmly to the little thing, trying again to approach it with a hand to scoop the bug up. When he gets close the first time there's a sharp 'snap' in the air of him being shocked, and while he flinches, he doesn't let that stop him. Joltik attaches its small legs to Alder's finger and it lifted off all at once to be inspected even closer by the man. With Alder's other hand, he returns Trip's camera to him.
"There you are! All taken care-of!"
