“… a time to keep silence and a time to SPEAK.” It’s time for me to speak.
It certainly has been a while since I posted anything. I would use the excuse that I am so busy and that I do not have enough time to post, but that would certainly be a justification for my laziness. So instead, I will just tell the truth; I am on overload with thoughts and I just can’t seem to figure out exactly where I want to start. Thankfully, I do journal things down all the time and that way I am able to really breathe and take in everything that God is trying to teach and show me.
(Thanks, Debra… aka: “Mom,” for sending me my journal through the mail.)
So it has taken me about 2 ½ days to write everything that I have to say down. I honestly do not even think that I got everything that I wanted to say out, but I have to start somewhere. My post is not to argue with those who stand firm with the relatity that “Black Lives Matter,” I do not disagree! My post is a heart cry for the world to wake up and really see what is going on. The more I think about it the more this post is harder to write. I have literally a million things running through my head; I could cry! The Holy word reminds us many times to not be divided. It is a constant cry throughout scripture. I see the division in so many places, specifically the church. The enemy, Satan, is well aware that in numbers, we can rule the world and really start chaning things when we unite together and become what we are supposed to be. Satan also understands who we are called to be, he knows our identities. It is his job to blind us from the truth and to keep us far away to our royal priesthood. We can all understand that he is a great deceiver and “the thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy…” (John 10:10). My heart cries for the black community and is a wrestly that I deal with a lot! AHHH! Please hear me out and listen to me as I try to break this down the best way that I know how.
I know I am not the only one who was devastated by the Charleston, South Carolina shooting. I also do not write this post to receive likes or peoples agreements; I think it is simply time I share my heart and truly what “Olivia” thinks about all of this. My heart is broken in 3 specific areas: For the families & friends, the black community, and Dylann Roof. I will start first by stating what I mean about each of these.
For the family and friends of the dying individuals my condolences go out. I know all too well how it feels to lose a loved one and too not really have words to explain what is going on in your head. The main thing that hit me when I lost my father was disbelief. It was honestly really hard for me to even believe that it was real. Death is just never easy and many people will begin to use cliché’s to You, but please don’t get frustrated or angry with them. It is not that people don’t care, it’s just sometimes words are the only way they can express themselves. But the death that has recently occured is most definitly something so different, especially when we look to the reasons behind it. So for the people who were close to these victims, I am truly sorry for all of Your losses. My heart cries, aches, and all the while feels compassion for You. I also want to encourage You all the way the best I know how. Days like these are the times where we really need to cling close to the Lord, He heals everything! One of my favorite verses to comfort people with is from Ecclesiastes.
“To EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven”
A time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted,
A time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to break down and a time to build up.
A time to weep and a time to dance,
A time to cast away stones and time gather stones together,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
A time to get and a time to lose,
a time to keep and time to cast away,
A time to rend and time to sew,
a time to keep silence and time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, AMP).
So again, I am deeply sorry and during this time I pray that Holy Spirit truly comforts You and gives the peace that surpasses all understanding. I also would like to add my thoughts regarding the 9 lives in which were lost. I do not have the mindset of most; tis why I do not share my thoughts with my friends and family frequently. The times I have shared my life with them they either look at me funny or think I am truly out of my mind. I guess the more time You spend with Jesus and the more You ask of Him, the more of His mindset You will have. But the reason I say this is because as I was reading in the Gospel of Matthew the other night; Jesus hit on one of the greatest things about our lives. He said something so profound.
“Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be
My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of,
and forget himself and his own interests]
and take up his cross and follow me [cleave steadfastly to Me,
conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also].
For whoever is bend on saving his [temporal] life
[his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life];
and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here]
for My sake shall find it [life everlasting].
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole
world and forfeits his life [his blessed life in the kingdom of God]?
Or what would a man give an exchange for his [blessed]
life [in the kingdom of God]?”
(Matthew 16: 24-26, AMP).
Now I do not know much about Your loved ones which were lost, but I do understand that they were truly loved and cherished. By the looks of it, many were well respected in their communities and most were leaders. I pray that everyone in that church building knew the Lord and understand that we are living for the Kingdom and to die is gain. This has been said many, many, many, times; but we are living in the last days. I honestly think that this is just the beginning though, because there are many more things in the scripture that must come to pass. This is certainly should be a joyous time for every believer. I just want people to be mindful of those things and really pay attention to what is going on. But as a believer what privilege and an honor it is to die for the Lord. (Whew!) Don’t let the enemy ever think that he won, because he didn’t. He doesn’t win and he is fighting a battle that he has already lost. I also want to thank the members who have forgiven Roof, that was certainly a courageous act and one that many could learn from. Forgiveness is so powerful! It is such a beautiful display of how the Father has forgiven us and keeps no account of the wrong that we've done. But that is another topic for another day!
Now for my brothers and sisters in the “black community,” which I am sure many of my followers will not agree with what I am about to say. That is cool though; I am not here to please or to have everyone believe what I am saying. I actually would like to have some feedback on your opinons. There has been many things in this last year that have really sparked the “black communities” interest. A lot of things that truly make you wonder, “is everyone in the world really that against us?” From the loss of the lives specifically the black men in our communities. I am not going to pick a side or say that we haven’t had a lot of things happen, because the fact is… we see it all over the media and many people have been victims to the things throughout their life. One thing is foresure, we won’t know what it is like to be someone else unless we experience that very thing ourselves. So no, I do not speak for every Christian or black woman because not everyone has walked in my shoes.
I believe that there is still racism around the world and I still think that these things are alive and well, not just for Blacks though. You certainly would have to be blind or just not paying attention to the media to understand that. I also understand that the media highlights what it wants and it will do it however it likes too. The media does a great job of making bad things look good and good things look bad. But the mentality that “the black man can’t get by” really makes my skin crawl. I have to ask constantly for God to check my heart so that I am not judging individuals who say that. The enemy is a “deceiver” please never forget that. You are not insignificant my black brothers (& sisters)! So don’t even feed into the lies, speake against them. Understand that we have been born into this battle; don’t get sidetracked by the enemy’s lies. He wants us to remain oppressed and will continue to do whatever it takes to make You constantly feel like the victim. I don’t even let him have room in that area; because I know I am significant, but not because I am a Black American, but because I am a daughter.
Now back to the media, I think there are a lot of things that are important that should be put on the news that are not. I am constantly seeing post that try to defend what is really going on in the world. “Well look what this white cop did, look what this white man did…” while this stuff is very important; it causes much division. I bet most of You have no idea what is going on in 3rd world countries. We as the Americans try to act like this stuff does not impact us, but it does. The media does not always show those things, a lot of this stuff would blow your minds. I have to hear about them from movies, films, and or friends who actually go into those areas, crazy huh!? I will give you all a few examples of some news that I think is important, but then again… this is just my opinion. I bet most of You do not know that babies around the world are being sacrificed to witch doctors and all kinds of gods for different reasons. Also, did You know, women and men are being captured and sold into the sex industry and forced to live in that lifestyle. Most of the time young girls have no where else to turn to so that is the best means for making money. A lot of those individuals are introduced to the porn industry as well, which most people have no idea is another world on it’s on. I was actually listening to a podcast today where the speaker said right here in California is where a lot of porn is produced. Whether or not that is true; wow! It has to be some truth behind that. Did You know that many young girls in a lot of third world countries have to walk miles barefoot away for clean water for their families? They have to carry gallons of buckets of water on their heads to get clean water for their families. Did You know that Christians are being persecuted for their faith… And I mean in crazier ways than just getting their heads cut off for millions of people to see. There are many things going on around the world; and no I am not be-littling the issue at hand here; but there is a way to handle things, ways that will defeat the enemies tactics.
Concerning South Carolina, I thought it was beautiful when I saw videos of many people standing there praying and sympathizing for the lives in which were lost. Every color, race, creed, whatever…. The display was beautiful. A beautiful display of heaven. Even yesterday at church I was surrounded by a diverse group of people and their hearts were broken for those people! Not because they were black; but because they were God’s children. I will do what ever it takes to let people know that they are somebody. I love how everyone in the body of Christ have a heart for different people. The only issue that I have is when people teach them that they are againt the world. \Don't teach them an opressed mentality but teach them that they are somebody!
This post is being wrote because I do believe there is a spirit of oppression on many of our black communities, essentially its people. One day God will give me the exact words to explain what that means but it is something that I know during my time here on Earth; I will have the privilege of breaking down the chains and speaking truth to my black brothers and sisters. The enemy is distracting people and making people fall victim to this mentality that everyone in the world is after them. Or better yet, many Blacks have to prove to every other race that they are somebody! We are taking on a victim mentality which is not even the truth. Most of the time I can’t stand going into a predominately black church because of this reason. The Lord has gotten on me a few times because of my judgements and I have asked Him to check my heart many times. But He has also let me understand that the black church has been attacked. (Not all black churches, just most.) Between the spirit of oppression, tradition, or religion, my heart cringes at the thought. When I hear most preachers it’s a sermon about his life or what it means to live as a black man in this world. Better yet how black kids aren’t doing this or doing that. While these statements aren’t wrong; it totally takes the whole reason I come to church off the main agenda. Where is Jesus in all of this? What about Jesus? What did He accomplish on that cross? Last time I checked, He took EVERY SIN AWAY! We can now walk in righteousness and walk as sons and daughters. Not in our same “pauper” mentalities that the devil loves us to be in. We sometimes have our own agendas; that is how many people feel when they sit in those pews, well at least I have felt that way. I understand that not everyone in the world is a Christian either. But I believe in the Bible and I believe in Jesus and I know that I have a personal relationship with Him so I am devoted to Him. I also understand what it means to be born-again, to be a new creation. I tell my friends, yes I am American, yes I am black, but I am a daughter to the highest King first. That is my identity; nothing less. And upon that cross Jesus did not die for just “blacks,” “whites,” “Hispanics,” or just one race, He died that the lost might be saved.
“For God did not send his Son
Into the world to condemn
The world, but in order
That the world might be
Saved through him”
(John 3:17, ESV).
I just want us to rise up out of this mentality. The enemy has distracted us from the mission, to make JESUS known. That has always been the mission, nothing has changed. The devil likes to take the good things and make them bad. I know this may not make sense to everyone, but hear me out… This is a battle not against flesh and blood! (Race, creed, religion, blah, blah, blah…)
Now for the 21-year old man, Dylann Roof; my heart breaks for You. I do not know You or Your story. Everyone in the world has a story and everyone has a lot of issues and things that need to be handled. I am not even sure if You would even like me because of the color of my skin, but my heart breaks for You. I do not wish death upon Your soul because as a believer that is never anything that my Father above would say. He would first want You to know that You are loved, Your sins are forgiven and He has a new life for You. I am not even sure that You have any remorse for what has been done, but I will be praying for You. I do know that we have all been taught to think like this world and unfortunately many of us no longer turn to God for our answers. I pray for You though and I just honestly pray that You get right with the Lord upon His arrival. And for those of You who have spoken wrongly about this man, really think about that. Are You representing the very being You believe in? Especially if You are proclaiming to be a Christian. Dylann needs Jesus just like everyone else because he is still precious in the sight of the Lord.
Finally, I am bothered by the remarks when people say stop saying “ALL LIVES MATTER.” Being black is a great thing, but I understand that “ALL LIVES MATTER,” not just Blacks. I do not think everyone is understanding me; and that is okay; not everyone walks the same life as me. I love people who are fighting for this I think that it’s great; I apparently am not effected the same way as the masses though. Even if someone were to ask what if it happened to Your brother; it would not cause me to be divided against a color; I know this for a fact. I wasn’t built to live my life like that. Now I have things I can work on as far as anger and forgiveness, but I am quickly reminded what the Lord has told me personally. All lives matter, and that was displayed upon the cross.
We have got to rise up world. We have to notice the devils tactics and what he is trying to feed us. We cannot be a victim to this mentality that teaches us that we are the only ones in the world who are receiving a harsh life. We need to unite as one and really remind the devil of his future. While all this is going on, we need to walk in what Jesus has already done for us. It was finished on the cross, we are righteous! We can walk and know that we are significant; even if the world thinks otherwise.
-Your Sister, Friend, Daughter,
Olivia
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places”
(Ephesians 6:12, ESV).
Dear Satan… You cannot win!
You think You have us distracted; but it is time I speak up… Your
Tactics are nothing compared to who I am
As a daughter. Watch out! We are bringing the
Kingdom down by force!
