Driving down the 101 || Juliet & Gwen
Location: The road from San Francisco to LA Date: June 7th, 2015 Platform: Neatchat
Juliet: “This weekend was awesome, I almost want to stay here.” Juliet said with a small laugh as she was organizing their bags on the trunk of her car. She was glad for being able to spend this time with Gwen, the two of them had a chance to catch up and just have fun together, something that they both really needed. Gwen had went on a job interview on the first day they had arrived but after that they just spent their time exploring the city. “Okay, ready to go back?” She asked, looking at her friend with a soft smile.
Gwen: "No I'm not ready to go back," Gwen said dramatically, flinging her head back against the car seat. "Let's just stay here forever! This has been the best weekend I've had in a while." She turned to Juliet and grabbed her hand, matching her friend's smile with one of her own. She sighed. "Do you wanna drive or should I?"
Juliet looked over at Gwen and laughed a little. “I wish we could, but I can’t leave Nate unsupervised for long. I’m afraid he might have broken something in the suite by now as it is.” She said with a small sigh. “We can always come back sometime. The Maroon 5 concert was so awesome!” Juliet smiled as Gwen took her hand. “I could drive.” She said, shrugging.
Gwen: “We need to find a way to take Adam Levine and make him mine." Gwen mused, staring at the road they were about to drive on. At the mention of Nate she felt herself blush a little, "Yeah," She agreed, "Your brother is a trouble maker." She laughed and made her way to the passenger's seat "You're a doll, Jules. I'll be in charge of snacks!"
Juliet: “We should have kidnaped him! We were so close to the stage, this was possible. But can we share, please?” She asked, laughing a little. The girl noticed the slight blush on her friend’s face but decided not to comment on it. “He sure is, not that I’m any better to be honest.” Juliet replied, mischievous smile in place as she got into the driver’s seat. “Ah, stop. You’ll make me blush.” She teased, turning on her iPod and connecting it to the car. “Road Trip Playlist?” Juliet asked Gwen before she started driving.
Gwen: "Of course," Gwen laughed, "We share everything!" Gwen threw her sunglasses on her eyes and kicked off her sandals, putting her feet up comfortably on the dash. That was the best part about being with Jules, all her anxiety floated away, she could bring her stinky bare feet out in the open and know she would still be loved. "Absolutely! Crank it!"
Juliet: “Awesome! I mean, if I have to share Adam with anyone it has to be you.” She said, giving Gwen a playful wink. “You got a pretty awesome tan, I’m jealous.” Juliet said, pouting a little as she also put on her sunglasses and then flashed her friend a fond smile. It had been a while since she had been able to feel this confortable around anyone, but it had always been like that with Gwen. Juliet knew that she could talk about anything with her friend. “Your wish is my command, ma’am.” The girl replied smiling as she pressed play on the playlist, Jenny From The Block blasting through the car’s sound system.
Gwen: "Trust me a tan like this is a rarity, usually it's bright pink like a lobster. It'll all be replaced with freckles soon enough." She smiled, she loved her freckles. "Beside you make pale look gorgeous!" She added with a wink. Gwen danced around wildly, rolling down the windows and laughing at how everyone could deal with their annoying but awesome tuneage, right now she didn't have a care in the world!
Juliet: “Well freckles are sexy!” Juliet smiled and shook her head slightly at the compliment. “Thank you, love.” The girl rolled her windowns down as well and started singing out loud the lyrics of the song. “Used to have a little, now I havea lot!” A car passed by and she could tell the people inside were staring at them but Juliet just send them a kiss, laughing soon after.
Gwen: "Use to have a little now I have a lot!" Gwen sang along, laughing as she watched friend blow a kiss out the window. She turned away from the windshield and into the backseat, searching furiously for gummy worms, still singing under her breath. "Doesn't matter cuz I know where I came from."
Juliet started driving with one hand only as she moved to the song’s rhythm the best she could. “Gwen? You okay?” She asked, noticing the weird position her friend was in as she looked over at her. “Oh, if you’re looking for the gummy worms they’re on the back pocket of the red bag.”
Gwen laughed, "You know me well." She said, returning to the front seat, she pulled out two gummy worms and offered one to Jules. "Aww, you even bought the sour ones."
Juliet smiled as she took the gummy worm from Gwen. “Well, we know each other since forever, so.” She said with a small shrug. “Of course, my dear friend. Only the best for you!” Juliet went quiet for a moment after that, her thoughts wondering someplace else. The girl’s tone was a bit more serious now when she talked again. “Gwen, can I ask you something?”
Gwen looked over at her friend through her heart shaped sunglasses, sensing her friend's sudden change of tone, she reached over to turn down the music slightly. "Of course, Jules, anything."
Juliet kept her eyes on the road for a couple more minutes before she gave Gwen a quick look. “How can you know for sure that you’re over someone? Is that possible?” The girl asked.
Gwen: "I don't know...." Gwen said, giving the question a lot of thought. "I think it's when you're able to think about both the good and bad affects someone had in your life without feeling that hole in your stomach, without missing them." She laughed, "But I mean, I've never really had to get over someone before... so I'm not exactly an expert."
Juliet listened intently to Gwen, the girl didn’t know if she should have brought this up now but she had bottled up her feelings for so long and if there was anyone she could talk about things like that, it was her friend. “That makes sense, actually. It’s just that I’ve met this guy while I was in New York and he’s amazing but we can’t be together so I should forget about him, right? And I swear, I’m trying. But he keeps calling and texting me so it’s hard. At the same time, I’m getting to know this other guy I’ve met back home and he’s cute and smart and makes me laugh. I might be starting to like him, but I don’t know. Things are really confusing right now, and I don’t wanna hurt him.” Juliet sighed. “I’m sorry for rambling, I just don’t have anyone else to talk about this stuff.”
Gwen: "Hey ramble away, I am always here for you." Gwen said. "Though I'm curious, why can't you be with the New York guy?"
Juliet smiled softly at Gwen before biting her lip at her question. “It’s complicated.” She said simply with a sigh. “I could tell you but please don’t judge me?”
Gwen: "Jules, you can trust me with anything, and I will never judge you." Gwen said, patting her friend's shoulder.
Juliet’s smile widened at Gwen’s gesture, she had never told anyone about this so the girl was actually glad she was being able to finally open up to someone. Looking over at her friend for a minute, she had a bit of a nervous look on her face. “Thank you, Gwen. Alright, well the main reason we can’t be together is that he’s…” She never got to finish the sentence because before she could say anything else, Juliet saw a car coming towards them in high speed on the wrong side of the road. The girl had only a few seconds to react before they would crash. She tried to change directions and stop her car but it was too late, the last thought on her mind was that Gwen was getting hurt and it was her fault. The impact of the crash was the last thing she felt before passing out.
Gwen's eyes stayed trained on her friend, out of the corner of her eyes she heard several horns honking, and bright lights pulling up into her vision, but then nothing else. "He's what?" She thought, but she couldn't make the words go to her mouth, "Jules!" She screamed. "JULES?!" But there was no one there, her vision went blurry before going black. The last thing she saw was her hand, red and bloody, reaching out for Juliet's and intertwining around it.
