stranger things au: lab kids steve (seven) and jane (eleven) aka. steve has powers/giving jane more siblings.
011, 007, and 008, now presumed dead, escape the lab after the massacre. 008 and 007/011 get seperated during the altercation and assume the other party is dead. 007/011 instead of running towards Hawkins they run the opposite direction, further into the woods. The duo were in a constant cycle of running and camping to rest. They made it to Chicago and were homeless for awhile.
This is where the duo meet the Harringtons. 7 was attempting to pickpocket them when they gold held up by someone wanting to mug them then everything went sideways. Mrs. Harrington got shot and 7, feeling Mr. Harringtons despair, and 11, seeing her brothers attitude shift, managed to heal her.
Mr. Harrington was shocked at the display but before he could get anywhere they took his wallet and ran off into the night.
Mr. Harrington not letting a debt willingly go unpaid, especially when they saved his wife's life, tracked them down. The duo were immediately suspicious. Mr. Harrington but, he was able to win 007/011 over through time and bringing them necessities. Mrs. Harrington recovered enough to were she wanted to go see the kids.
007/011 agreed to go see her. Blah blah blah how can we repay you.
Seven answered, "house."
"Excuse me?" Replied Mrs. Harrington.
"A house. You have money. Eleven wants a room like the one on the tea-v." Seven replied with a blank expression.
"Oh," Mrs. Harrington exclaimed.
Her and Mr. Harrington shared a look, they were like that for awhile before Mr. Harrington spoke up, "How about we give you something better?"
"Hm?"

O07/011 end up getting adopted.

Stephen "Steve" Harrington and Evelyn "El" Harrington were now newly adopted by Daniel and Eileen Harrington
They have nonconventional, but loving relationship with the Harringtons. Daniel and Eileen never wanted kids, they were both too work oriented to start a family, but they have a soft spot for the children. Steve and El mostly look after eachother and get too cagey when someone else tries to get involved. It's not bad, the bond could be described as a mishmash of uncle-aunt/niece-nephew/non parentified older-sibling hanging out with younger sibling kinda bond.
After spending about three-to-four years with the Harringtons they look almost unrecognizable to the two children in the forest survivng off of squirrel meat. Both El and Steve have lost that pale guant appearance, especially around their face, and are now a healthy tan color. Their platinum blond hair is now a warm chestnut brown. Instead of gazing at people with haunted steel blue-gray eyes they deepened into a warm hazel. They share enough features with the Harringtons that most on-lookers would think they are biologically related.
When the Harringtons come to Hawkins they weren't originally planning to stay for more than a week or two; they stayed the whole summer. El and Steve were more than okay with this; the siblings thought the small town quaint, with it's greenery and slow-paced life. El and Steve also like that it is small enough that they don't need to be accompanied by a nanny. The pair spend most of their time using the pool, playing in the park, practicing baseball/basketball, and just exploring Hawkins.
Then El met Dustin Henderson and nothing was ever the same. They met when El retured his rescued (kidnapped) cat, Mews. Mrs. Henderson was so relieved she couldn't just let the siblings leave until they where overstuffed with lunch.
Dustin and El became fast friends. He loved her endless curiosity and earnestness. While she loved his outspokeness and just how knowledgeable he was. Steve watched from the sideliness completely gitty that his sister made a new friend. The Harrington siblings often stopped by the Henderson house wether it was to help them unpack or just to hangout. They often invited Dustin to their hotel room; Steve promised Ms Henderson to take good care of him and that if he needed to be looked after during the nights he would more than happy to do it. (Early Babysitter!Steve anyone 👀)
Dustin introduced them to Lucas who came back from his mid-summer family reunion at his uncle Jacks place. At first Jane was nervous that he wouldn't like her, her social skills while improved was still lacking. She was overjoyed that he was equally kind to her as Dustin and was over the moon when she found out they both supported the Chicago Bulls.
Lucas introduced them to both of his friends Will and Mike. Then the world just clicked. El and Will had a lot of similarities. El found out that had a passion for drawing and was quite good at it. El thought Mike didn't like her much at first, he was always quiet and refused to look at her, but when he was able to talk with her, she found him pleasent. He often explained concepts that flew over her head or made them more understandable.
They made her and her brother summer in Hawkins so much more enjoyable so when it got towards the end of summer she was heartbroken. Although she missed Chicago, El thought she would miss Hawkins more; this is where she learned what it was like to be friends. The party (now El & Steve included) where getting more bummed out as the days passed
Steve always wanting to make his sister happy, asked Daniel and Eileen about the possibility of moving to Hawkins. They discussed many things including; a place to live, Steve taking more responsibility, El school ciriculum changing, both of them needing to get accommodations, the Harringtons not always being able to be in Hawkins due to business. All this to say that they came into a mutual agreement of seeing how the fall semester goes.
The Harringtons and Steve broke the news to El and she almost short circuited the entire hotel. El along with Steve broke the news to the party and needless to say they where overjoyed. While originally thinking of buying the house 'near' the Byers residence for privacy they decided to settle on in Loch Nora. The houses where far apart enough for privacy, but close enough where people will hear you scream if you where attacked.
All this to say, the party and co how a couple more years together before the disappearance of Will Byers.
