On to the 1990 Royal Rumble. This was the first Rumble that had major talent early the match. Six of the first eight saw Ted DiBiase in at number one, Jake Roberts in at number three and "The Macho King" Randy Savage at number five, Rowdy Roddy Piper in at number six and Bret Hart in at number eight. The crowd was really into the countdowns setting the energy for crowds in later years. I had forgotten that Tony Schiavone was working for the WWF at the time and Dusty Rhodes got a major pop from the crowd. It took five dudes to eliminate Earthquake further building him up to be a major heel. And the Ultimate Warrior was a much bigger force by the time of the 1990 Royal Rumble than he was two years prior during the 1988 Royal Rumble. DiBiase sets the then record for the being in the Rumble the longest at roughly 44 minutes. I was surprised that Hogan and Snuka would square off when Hogan got to the ring to a HUGE pop. The Royal Rumble shows that it is a match setter for Wrestlemania with this show. Bad News Brown vs Roddy Piper, Demolition vs The Colossal Connection and Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultmate Warrior among many of the matches from Wrestlemania VI with roots in the 1990 Royal Rumble. Trendsetters Ravishing Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig are missed by wrestling fans worldwide. True legends Good times indeed. #WWF #WorldWrestingFederation #RoyalRumble90 #RoyalRumble1990 #RoyalRumble #Wrestling #ProWrestling #TheNineties #1990s #SiscosFavoriteComics https://www.instagram.com/p/B7PaoMOBeBQ/?igshid=me13o8xi157p
