Kill a single target. An easy enough job for a trained ex-soldier like him, of course. And the pay was incredible. Turning that job offer down was nearly impossible, and the fact that it was a high-value target mattered very little to Tommy. What his new employer had failed to mention until much later, however, was that his target was a female. And, of course, not just any female. But the one and only princess. Something he only discovered when he'd started his observations.
Now, Thomas Shelby might be a gangster, and he was most certainly known to be ruthless, but not that ruthless. Killing women, or girls, for that matter, wasn't something he usually did, and he had no intention of changing that. So he had two options: either kill the girl and betray his own convictions, or lose out on a lot of money. Neither option sounded very tempting to him, if he was honest. So he came up with a third one: make it seem as if he had killed her.
Following her had been easy. He was good at remaining in the shadows, and she didn't exactly seem the suspicious type. So all he had to do was wait until she'd walk down a quiet street. Once she did, and he sensed his chance, Tommy quietly approached her from behind, before pulling her into an alley. Within a few split seconds, he had her pinned to the wall, hand pressed to her mouth to keep her from screaming. "Quiet now." His voice was calm, and collected as he pulled her further down the alley and away from anyone who could possibly disturb them. "Someone wants you dead, girl. Luckily they hired someone with a conscience. So, will you stay quiet if I take my hand away?"
