I was strolling around Glorietta Mall in Makati a few weeks ago when I decided to check out this very colorful shop called Roy & Biv. They had such a bright and happy store front and it was so easy to be attracted to the cute and quirky items they had on display.
Roy & Biv can be found on the second floor of Glorietta 4, just beside the escalators near National Bookstore. I found out that this store had been open since 2013 and they also have branches at Trinoma, Alabang Town Center, Ayala Center Cebu, and SM Seaside City Cebu. I was looking for some gift items for my younger cousins so it was a good time to check out what they had to offer.
They say that if a box of crayons grew up and became a store, it would be Roy & Biv. This eye-catching shop has a wide range of useful, everyday items all dressed up in the various colors of the rainbow. I remember those letters that were taught in school to make us remember all seven colors (roygbiv) and this is where Roy & Biv actually got its name.
Roy & Biv immerses its customers in a refreshing shower of colors from the moment they step inside the shop. At first, I wasn’t sure what were on sale and what were just on display, because everything looked gorgeous! It turns out that everything you see can actually be brought home, so I hurriedly roamed around the store and filled my shopping cart.
The shop is separated into eight display areas corresponding to eight groups of colors — red, orange, yellow, green, aqua, blue, purple, and fuchsia. The cute merchandise is a happy mix of gifts, housewares, fashion accessories, clothes, and iconic items associated with each color. If you find an item in a color you do not like, try to look around the other sections and you might find it in a color you prefer.
Roy & Biv attracts customers of all ages, transcending gender, race, social status, and culture, just like the colors of the rainbow. Their shop’s mantra is “We Love Hue” and you are sure to love them too. I also found these short trivia containing interesting facts about colors like AQUA and how we relate to them. Each color attracts a certain type of personality, so I wonder which section I will like the most.
These cute Emoti Backpacks (P1195) at the entrance are quite catchy! The upcoming school year is approaching and these will probably look good on students looking to impress their friends.
The yellow section is as bright as a school bus or taxi! If you want to attract attention then these are the items you should get. It does have that happy and cheerful ambiance.
These sunglasses should look good on my summer trips and adventures.
It seems that I spent majority of my time in the store at the fuchsia section. I bought these fashionable Peacock Earrings (P150) at a very affordable price.
There were many other interesting items at this area like the Multi Purpose Case (P150) where I can place my sunglasses. I think fuchsia or pink is also the color of love so that’s why I like staying in this section.
Look at these cute and huggable pillows! I want to bring these home with me!
One item that I really wanted to buy was the Decorative Stripe Ship (P295) which reminds me of my late grandfather and how he used to go fishing in our hometown of Polillo, Quezon.
Can you believe that Roy & Biv also sells blouses and dresses? Of course, expect to find them in attractive and striking colors. I bought this blue-green blouse for only P850.
