I've been on a major Steely Dan kick recently and, listening back, it's easy now to pinpoint my least favorite song of the band's catalog. I originally would pick The Royal Scam's "Everything You Did" but that song is saved by the lyric "Turn up the Eagles the neighbors are listening."
No the worst song for Steely Dan has to be "Any Major Dude" simply because of it's horrifically dated slang and the worst use of "funky" that could ever be except for maybe "funky Ronald Reagan." Listening to the band's 1974 pre-Pretzel Logic L.A. concert at the Record Plant has given me a little bit of a new appreciation for the song. It's all due to guest vocalist Royce Jones (click that link you'll be happy you did) who adds a little bit of soul to the bleh lyrics.
And that is your Steely Dan post for the day. No more Steely Dan for another 4 months at least. I promise
