introduction 

camila is the youngest child of seven, which meant a lot of fighting for attention in her youth. she was born and raised right here in miami, and though she’s left the state a few times for vacation, she’s never wanted to live anywhere else. 

heard of the perez art museum in miami? well — now you’ve met an heir to it. her grandfather struck rich by miraculously winning the lottery, and started collecting art in the 1940s after being handed his check. in the 1990s, her father helped him open up the perez modern art museum, which is located near miami beach and brings in hundreds of visitors every day. 

meet the perez fam: “i want a baseball team!” her father used to say — which is exactly why there are nine of them total, enough for a baseball team.

the perez kids lived a life of luxury, but their parents weren’t that easy on them, escpecially not the eldest siblings. they were instilled with the notion that it is essential to work hard, and you can’t have things handed to you. that’s why leo went to yale, sofia went to columbia, and valentina went brown. but as the kids got older, their parents became more and more lax. they allowed the younger kids to get away with things that never would have been okay had their eldest children done it. and when oscar announced he was dropping out of college to be a fulltime bartender, there was no lecture like everyone had expected. 

her siblings would argue, in that case, that camila had it the easiest. by the time camila was a teenager, they were hardly paying attention to what she did. she could have flunked out of high school and they wouldn’t have even noticed. that wasn’t ideal for camila though — even if her siblings were envious. to her, it felt like a lack of attention, like whatever she did didn’t really matter to her parents — they already had three kids who were successes, what did the rest matter?

although she was the apple of her father’s eye, which made up for it. they were thick as thieves, her and her father. he’s her best friend! 

their house has a giant garden in the back, and cami spent a lot of time there with her mom. she has a green thumb and is basically a plant whisperer if you will. her favorite flower is a sunflower and her entire apartment is decorated with green plants and lovely flowers. gardening is her therapy, so you’ll often find her out there or reading a book about botany. 

got really into astrology when she was thirteen and is now obsessed with it. upon first meet she’ll probably be internally guessing your sign and will, under all circumstances, always end up finding out your birth chart. beware! 

she’s more of a homebody, prefers a night in as opposed to going out clubbing in miami which is often too overwhelming for her. that being said, she LOVES to dance and is really good at it (she took salsa and merengue classes as a kid at her mom’s request), but she only ever really dances alone in her apartment when no one is looking. 

can be a bit materialistic, due to her taurus sun and growing up surrounded by money, but she’s doesn’t boast about it. she’ll just quietly buy her prada tote or gucci slides and she’s always the friend to put her card down at a meal. still, she sometimes forgets not everyone can mindlessly afford things (you know that scene in friends when ross is like i never viewed money as a problem and rachel is like that’s cause you have it - that’s cami) 

went to college at the university of miami (seriously, this bitch has never left) and moved into the roy g biv apartments a year ago after she graduated from school. her dad pays her rent for her one bedroom, and she has a job for spending money. 

very bi and loves women <3 leans more toward women romantically, and sexually is attracted to anyone equally. also, she falls quite easily but it’s typically infatuation - she just mixes up the two

finley was born to a drug addicted mother, father unknown, who tried to raise her but mostly just neglected her, even left her home alone sometimes. it didn’t take long for someone to call child protective services on her and finley was removed from the house. while being checked out in the pediatric intensive care unit, her now adoptive father saw her and heard she was going to be put in foster care. he and his wife had been wanting another kid anyway so they immediately asked to adopt her. this was the part of her backstory she wasn’t aware of. to this day, finley is not aware she was adopted.

she grew up knowing herself as the youngest daughter of two surgeons with an older brother and two older sisters. she loved her sisters but she was always the closest to her brother. she looked up to him like a role model and sure they had their sibling fights, but overall he was one of her best friends.

her parents heavily encouraged the kids to become doctors. most of her siblings listened and went into the family business. she always thought that’s where she would end up too but as she are up, she fell in love with baking. she knew that’s what she wanted to pursue. even still, she did try medical school for a semester. she hated it and never returned for second semester.

she had been making videos of the treats she baked and chocolate sculptures she made. it didn’t take long for people to start reaching out asking her to make things for their events. after a while of doing this and saving up some money, she opened finn’s bake shop.

finley’s parents never showed very much affection toward each other, if any at all. they showered the kids with love but never displayed it to each other. finley vowed she would never be that way with her partner. a relationship wasn’t a business transaction, they both deserved love and affection.

despite always being heavily stressed during the school year, finley is an overall sweet person. she moved out two years ago because she needed to be more independent. she has a little chiweenie named posie who she absolutely adores.

Lola was born to young parents Magdalena Perez & Emiliano Dominguez in Les Tres Terres, Spain — a suburb of Barcelona  

Her mother was in a very successful spanish girl group , Desear — they were like the spice girls of Spain , which meant that ever since the day lola was born her life was on the go

Most of childhood memories involve being backstage or in a tour bus while her mother was on tour, playing with her dad and doing her best to babble the lyrics to the songs that her mom was singing as she heard them through the walls 

As it’s easy to guess, lola ended up spending a lot of time with her dad—her mom never really prioritized lola over her group and her life as a pop star so while her mom was out living the high life (pun intended), her dad was usually the one feeding her, putting her to sleep, taking her out to play and doing all the things he felt necessary as a parent 

Emiliano put up with it for a while, honestly he liked having lola to himself most of the time — Maggie had a lot of bad habits that she wasn’t willing to put aside for Lola’s sake (mainly partying and all it encompasses) and after a certain point he simply didn’t trust their daughter to be in her care 

Maggie would never admit it out loud but the truth of the matter was that she resented Lola’s birth, she viewed lola as an obstacle that was in the way her career rather than a child that she was supposed to love and cherish the way that Emil did 

Eventually Emil sued Maggie for full custody of Lola on grounds of being unfit to parent and by the time lola was  4 years old, he had gained full custody of her and moved both himself and his daughter out of that environment 

Lola and her dad moved to florida (which is where lola has lived for the remainder of her life) 

For the next few years things were going perfectly—Emil finally got to treat lola like the princess he always saw her to be and in turn lola got to live a near perfect childhood with her dad by her side

In true Dominguez fashion, things once again took a turn when lola was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her lower extremities at the age of 13 

Both Lola and Emil were horrified, the thought of losing his entire world made him sick to his stomach and lola knowing that she had cancer was already preparing for the worst 

Luckily with the type of cancer lola had, there were an abundance of treatments available to her—she was dead set on not losing a limb so she tried any and every type of chemotherapy, medication and transfusion she could and for the most part they worked, she had bone grafting done in her knees and some parts of her thighs which worked to kill the cancer cells there but no matter what they would try, the cancer wouldn’t shrink in her left foot. 

She begged and pleaded for them to try something else, anything else but when it came down to it, lola had no choice but to get her left foot amputated 

After spending almost 2 years in and out of a hospital for surgery, chemo treatments and physical therapy to help her get adjusted to her new prosthetic—lola had made it to remission by the time she was 15 

She stayed homeschooled until he finished high school, too insecure about her prosthetic foot and too afraid to be treated as “the girl who had cancer” to be able to put herself back in the school environment again 

But when the time college came around she was ready to start over—new school, ‘new’ body, fresh start. 

She studied studio arts and fashion merchandising at NYU for her undergraduate and landed herself a remote internship with vogue which allowed her to move back to florida and also work for miami’s design district

PERSONALITY:

Like I said earlier, Lola’s dad treated her like a princess and that was exactly what she turned out to be — giving very much ‘miss thang’ type of energy even when she was dealing with her cancer

She’s always been inclined to the finer things in life, for no reason other than the fact that those have been the things readily available to her through her existence. She knows she’s spoiled, she never tried to hide it but she hopes it’s not something that represents who she is as a person.

That being said, lola is very spoiled. Though her dad couldn’t give her everything she wanted, he did give her most of it—but they he made sure to teach her to not get a big head abbot material things, and that character was all that would matter in the end.

she's a very...anything, anytime and anywhere kind of girl, being stuck in a hospital dead for a year to two made her begin to live for the thrill of getting out and doing things, wether those things involve sitting on the roof of an abandoned parking lot and eating chinese food at 4 in the morning or booking a last minute trip to vegas and waking up not having remembered what happened to you the night before—whatever you wanna do, she's your girl.

Don’t let her awful resting bitch face scare you too bad, though she does have a pretty intimidating exterior, once you crack down into it she really is a just a sweetheart who 

She does have some limitations though—though she did have a really good recovery from her cancer she does sometimes struggle to keep up physically, but she tries to not make a big deal of it 

The way that things panned out with her mom made lola into the type of person that values the people in her life more than anything in the world. she’sthe type who once she makes friends, she keeps them no matter what. some may say this is a little bit of a pushover type of trait but she would view it more as proof of loyalty—she of course has her limits, but she thinks that even the greatest obstacles can be overcome in any kind of relationship as long as you grow and learn from your mistakes.

a brief biography

there was never a time when lydia didn’t know that after high school she would be attending an ivy league university.  she was raised on the east coast by two wealthy yale alumni, a legacy family in the making.  her entire schooling career was preparing her for the day she would walk through the yale courtyard as a student.

she’s always had a passion for reading and writing.  as a little girl she would stay up late, snuggled up with a good book.  she would hide herself in her closet with a flashlight reading the iliad, shakespeare, and harry potter.

it was no surprise when she entered school that she excelled in english.  throughout middle & high school she won several awards for her poetry, short stories, and literary essays.  she’s showed her work at conferences across the country and spent a summer interning at the library of congress, an honor usually reserved for college students

another joy liddy found in childhood was her love of playing the piano.  it seemed to come natural to her, though it probably helped that she had one of the best piano teachers in the city, and a desire to practice whenever she could.  as she got older, her parents encouraged her in her craft, but it was always treated as nothing more than a hobby and nothing to pursue as a career.  lydia tended to refer to it as her guilty pleasure.

as anticipated, during her senior year she was accepted into the prestigious university, and that fall she began classes, pursing a degree in literature.

however, during her freshman year, lydia found herself caught up in something she never expected.  she was used to spending a lot of time with her english teachers.  in high school the english classroom had been her second home.  but this time she realized she was developing feelings for her professor, and it turned into a secret affair they were able to keep under wraps until disaster struck.  

[PREGNANCY TW] a few months into the relationship, lydia discovered she was pregnant.  she was terrified, but she was in love.  she’d never really desired motherhood, but suddenly everything was different.  in her perfect world, she’d put off college, she’d run away with her love and her baby and read dickens to her child in her garden and be happy.  but of course…she knew that was never an option.  because the love of her life was married and had a life of his own, and she had expectations to meet and a family image to uphold.  teen pregnancy and a torrid affair was absolutely out of the question.

[PREGNANCY LOSS TW] her parents were horrified to learn of lydia’s wrongdoings.  they agonized over what to do, and how they were going to cover this up.  however, they didn’t have to suffer for long, only two months into her pregnancy, she suffered a miscarriage.  they were relieved she could continue school as normal, the student body or their wealthy friends none the wiser. lydia had other ideas however.  the loss had torn her apart.  she knew a life with her child was never an option, but she still mourned the possibility.  she decided she couldn’t go back to yale- or anywhere for that matter.  she needed to get away- somewhere without the cold or the expectations or the pressure.  that’s how she found the apartments in miami.

she took a year off to explore life in a new place- and explore herself. now she’s taking classes at a local community college, something she knows her parents would die at the knowledge of, but she’s trying her best to do something she’s never done before- please no one but herself.

she’s changed quite a bit since her ordeal.  the girl who once cared about nothing but her scholarly pursuits was left back in high school.  she still occasionally feels the weight of needing to please her parents, but she’s trying to find more of herself too.  she knows she has to be someone beyond studying.  she wants to branch out, she wants to have fun.  she’s just afraid of opening herself up again for the first time since her pregnancy.  but deep down, she truly is a happy, passionate young woman.

tldr; lydia is a big fat book nerd who got knocked up by her college english professor and dropped out and fled away from her family’s demands and expectations to miami where she ended up at the apartments.  heartbroken & hormonal, she now longs to explore new things, find herself, and maybe stop being so boring.

quick bullets/headcanons 

she figure skated throughout childhood, but dropped out during her early teens when the commitment interfered with her academic rigor’

she loves to write, mostly poetry but also prose.  

she’s pretty much obsessed with female witers.  she’ll talk your ear off about jane austen, louisa may alcott, elizabeth barrett browning, emily dickenson or the bronte sisters anytime.  beware.

a bit of a coffee addict, she developed an unhealthy relationship with it in high school that she hasn’t kicked.

lydia grew up wealthy, but is now more or less cut off from her parents.  she occasionally receives a bank transfer from her grandfather that is never spoken about- but for the first time in her life she is on her own.  she works at a local library as often as she can to stay afloat, and uses her grandfather’s money to pay for school.

wanted connections

friends - give my sweet baby some pals! people she trusts. people that give her new experiences.  sometimes she’s a tad bit gloomy since her scandal, so i’d love some people that can break through her shell.  some close friends, a ride or die bff, acquaintances, maybe someone who she knew in childhood who also happens to be in miami now?? literally anything.  

romantic - past and future relationships of all kind.  lydia would be slow to let someone in after her affair which can open the door for a lot of possible connections.  maybe the first person who got her to open up, a never ending will they/won’t they flirtation, someone who broke her heart, someone whose heart she broke bc she wasn’t ready yet. i’d also love for lydia to explore her bisexuality but she doesn’t entirely know about yet.  

coworker or regular - lydia works at a local library!  perhaps your muse works there too or comes in often to check out books

family - maybe a cousin that was a push to come to miami?

other - a college classmate, study buddy, a fellow writer or musician, roommate 

anything!! we can brainstorm!  i’m open to all types of interesting connections & drama hehe.
