There’s that shit eating grin that Ryoma is famous for as he wraps an arm around his ‘eldest’ brother’s shoulders.

“But...I don’t think either of you are that much of a dork and even so I like that about both you anyway. You’re my dorky brothers and wouldn’t change that for the world.”

“There is no need for tears...this isn’t good-bye forever after all.”

A soft smile still painting his face as he tried to reassure the other. They may be parting ways for the forseeable future, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t possibly see each other again. Not seeing why it wouldn’t be impossible for them to meet again.

“Do you have one in mind you’d like?”

It only seemed fair to let Alice choose whether they should pose or not. After all, this was her keepsake and how she wished to remember their time together. The samurai was touched that she had wanted to take one to begin with, have a memory of him, especially since they hadn’t started out on the best of terms.

“I don’t mind whatever you choose.”

“You’re a REAL peach.”

There was sarcasm dripping from Ashi’s word as she spoke about the red-head, a sigh escaping her lips. They might’ve been on ‘better’ terms now, more or less, but there was still some animosity between them. Not that the young female warrior hadn’t tried to be nice, but Alice was very much hostile any chance she got. It got irritating sometimes, only further by Ashi’s knee-jerk reactions sometimes and spitting venom back at the other in kind.

Least she was trying to work better on how she handle her anger. Little by little, the samurai that had taken her under his wing helping her quell the storm under the surface.

“...so, what does he want?”

“I am not unholy.”

The accusation only further deepened the frown upon Mad Jack’s face, staring intently at the red head in question. Though, he was familiar with her presence, given his connection to the samurai she knew.

“And we share a face because I came from him...that is all.”

Of course, there was more to that than how he simply had put it, but he really didn’t feel like going into details. After all, some things he was still uncertain of himself and was still figuring out his whole exsistence. That and having had salt thrown at him by the other hadn’t really made him feeling like being open with her at present.

“I don’t know, doesn’t seem like an area that would be suitable for wild aloe to grow.”

Ashi spoke up as she took a quick glance around the area and notice of the foliage that surrounded them at present. She might not know much about the world around her, but that didn’t mean she lack essential knowledge. Plus, she had been learning a thing or two from Jack while traveling with him, even if she was still learning somethings slowly.

“Don’t worry too much, most of this blood isn’t mine.”

There was truth to the word, most of the blood saturating her body was not of her own. Most belonging to the ones they had just fought through and prevailed.

“I’ll have a look once we’re cleaned up and see if I can’t find us any plants that can be useful for a quick salve.”

While there was truly no need, both him and Ashi having very minimal amount of injuries on their body, he knew that it would ease Alice’s mood. Having come to understand that no matter how durable and tough one was, she would always worried. Even if half the time she thought it was all just a ‘macho’ act or trying to be ‘manly’ when that was the furthest thing from the truth. Jack was never the type to care for such things, comfortable with who he was and never trying to prove anything. He just had a high endurance and strong will, being trained for decades to be a warrior after all.

The same could be said about Ashi, even if she was younger than him. Though, she could use to refining with some aspects. All in due time.

“The foliage is plentiful and no doubt there is something we can use to treat our cuts and scrapes.”

Plus, he could forage for something to eat while he did.

“Alice...”

There was a tone to his voice that spoke volumes without using many words, soft and gentle yet stern and strong in nature. It wasn’t like the other’s worry wasn’t unfounded, after all seeing someone as hurt as he was would cause alarm and panic to anyone. However, Jack had almost become use to and very familiar with the pain and injuries his body had endured throughout his fights in this timeline, to an almost inhuman degree. Time and time again, managing to survive even the most brutal of injuries and kept going.

To him, the gashes that ran across his body in kind in the moment were not overtly concerning. Even the one he held with some pressure that was staining his hand in sanguine blood that was flowing like a river.

“...please calm yourself.”

His voice was calm like always, hand squeezing her shoulder once more. There was no doctors nearby, not when they found themselves in the middle of a vast wilderness. That didn’t mean he didn’t have the means to clean up and tend to his injuries at hand, something that had become essential in his journeys.

“I will be fine, I promise.”

This feeling wasn’t a familiar one and the face that was associated with it was not one that was familiar to him, only ever having seen those who had created him. Contact with anyone else heavily limited and restricted, never understanding why that was the case but whenever the question was given they’d always tell him ‘for his safety’. 

Strange, that didn’t seem true but they wouldn’t lie to him would they? They were looking out for him, weren’t they? What reason would he have not to believe the scientist that created him and taught him what he knew? It bothered him to think otherwise, pushing those troublesome thoughts out of his thoughts at present.

Instead, attention turning to the new presence that had come into his life, an unfamiliar face. This one felt different, she didn’t give him the same feeling like those in the white lab coats did. Not sure how to describe the feelings that were manifesting themselves, but it was pleasant and warm in nature. Mismatched eyes watching every movement she made, the looks she was giving him as she seemed to be checking him over. Curiosity rising as her hands traced over the crude scars that decorated the stump of one of his arms, seeing her face scrunch up a bit in what he assumed was annoyance.

“It fine. Happened long ago.”

Was he trying to reassure the other? Playing off the loose of his limb as nothing too major, least to cause further worry. Though the incident that lead to loosing his arm had been anything but a pleasant one, remembering the pain. Knowing fully how much it hindered him too and had displeased the science team. Small but cheerful smile spread across his features as he spoke, denial was something he was use to now.
