i think the reason so many people have an issue with rpf is because of the influx of people not understanding the concept of separating fiction from reality. like yes, i think about overwatch pro players kissing. because it's fun! i write stories about them because it's fictional and it's FUN!!! i don't talk about this stuff where they can easily find it and i don't invalidate their real life friendships and relationships because i understand the difference between the Real Life players and the fictionalized characters i've based off of them in my head. and as long as those stay separate, rpf hurts absolutely no one.
#also. not saying that people can't have their own personal wish to stay away from and not engage in rpf#cause that's their right!#but when they start acting like they have moral high ground or that i'm an evil person for engaging in rpf? thats when there's a problem#especially when they try to lead the anti-rpf crusade by bringing it to players.#which neither myself nor the player want btw!#to be like “isn't this shit disgusting don't you think it's awful that people are writing about you kissing your teammate???”#putting both the player and myself in uncomfortable and awkward situations! btw!!!#like it is as simple as. not engaging if you dont like it!#which goes for any “weird/uncomfortable” but ultimately harmless content found on the internet. for which there is a lot#its especially funny when multiple players have said they do not gaf about fic as long as they don't have to see it.
