I warned you that I haven’t even started loving on you yet. OC Appreciation day is over, but I didn’t get to love on everyone yet, and there’s no way I’m going to pass on letting everyone know how amazing you are.
I have no idea for how long we’ve known each other by now, but I think I bumped into you pretty soon after creating Noah. We started interacting with Noah and Moana, then I figured out you have aprox. 287316 other blogs, and I’ve been following most of them, I think. If not, you need to send me those I don’t follow yet.
Anyway, you just recently created Marcel and I’m already so in love. I remember you sending me some general ideas, and from the beginning he sounded so detailed and threedimensional and interesting, and the things we plotted so far are just so damn amazing I can’t wait to get started. You are easily one of the most creative people I know, I love brainstorming with you, both ic and ooc stuff. You are just one of those people who are really, really helpful, and your criticism always makes sense and inspires me to become a better writer and see things from another perspective.
It’s really easy to talk to you. You are such a nice person, you speak your mind and I know I can trust you. You don’t bullshit the people you talk to, and I appreciate that so very much, you know that.
It’s a pleasure to get to write with you, and I hope you know how much I adore you and your muses. You matter.

I’ve always been a firm believer in the importance of OCs. For as long as I can remember, I’ve shared a passion for OCs as well as canon characters. When I was younger, I spent a lot of time writing for canon characters from various shows, movies, and anime that I loved, but I spent just as much time creating my own OCs.
I do not RP any OCs on Tumblr because I prefer to save them for my private work; work that I might have published some day. Maybe one day my OC will become a canon character that people want to make RP blogs for.
That brings me to the point that I’m trying to make when I say that OCs are so important to the RP community. If I didn’t RP with OCs, I would lose more than half of my wonderful RP partners. To exile OCs would also be to exile myself, and I don’t understand how anyone cannot marvel at the amazingness that is the process of creating a character completely from scratch? When you make a character and you put hours of backstory into them and hours of brainstorming their personality and what traumatic or cheerful incidents happened to them while they were growing up that influenced who they became, you become more than just a writer.
In a way, you’re a parent to these characters, and your heart and soul are poured into them.
When I see an OC who has a well thought out backstory and history (regardless of it’s a fandom OC or an OC without a fandom), I get excited. I stop and I look at their information and their headcanons and I think ‘wow! Look at all the time and effort this person has put into bringing this character to life’. I love getting a chance to interact with OCs and see how they can fit into my character’s life. I love seeing them even when I’m not involved with them because they’re getting attention and development and love.
Anyone who is able to run an OC account and love their character in this way despite the disadvantage that OCs have in the RP community is amazing to me. It’s inspiring and it’s just all together up-lifting.
The amount of work that goes into creating an OC is nothing to shy away from and nothing to belittle. Every single person who has created an OC deserves to be proud of their creation and they deserve to be acknowledged for their effort.
Most importantly, we should all remember that every canon character started off as an original character. Successful original characters become canon.
To disregard original characters is no different than disregarding canons.
With all of that said, I’m going to make a few shoutouts to some OCs that I’ve had the honor of RPing with and knowing well below the cut.
These individuals have put so much work into their characters and the development of said characters, it would be a shame for me not to give them proper recognition, and I strongly encourage that everyone follow them.
@harbingerofumbrella & @thestunningadversary - I have to start with you because you are my everything. You came to me only weeks after I made my original Loki blog over three years ago, and even though I knew nothing about your fandom back then, you still wanted to RP with me. You were one of my first ship partners. You were the first OC I ever shipped with period, and you were the person that helped to keep me going when I doubted myself. The amount of work you’ve pumped into Eris over the years is amazing. I know that you don’t always believe me when I tell you how talented I think you are, but you really are one of the most talented people I’ve ever met. You have great world building skills and a knack for developing your characters so far regardless of if they are part of a fandom or not. You developed Eris so perfectly that I literally believed she was a canon character for months. I fell in love with your writing and your character, which was a doorway for me to fall in love with you as a person. You became my roommate, my best friend, and my sister. I don’t know what I’d do without you and I love you for everything you do on and off of Tumblr. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON RHINE, OKAY?
@talesofflowersandknives & @corruptedones - YOU! Your dedication to your muses amazes me. You have so many OCs that have been inspired from so many things, but you manage them so well that even though I already ship with two of them and RP with four or five of them (not even counting interactions on my other blogs), I still want to branch out and interact with all of them. You’ve made some really amazing characters that compliment one another perfectly and you write for them in a way that makes me certain no one else could ever pick them up and try to be their mun. You’ve given me an amazing RP partner and an amazing friend and I love you in and out of character.
@drorah-walks - Your character is one of my favorites. She’s so creative and so well thought out and literally has an infinite number of possibilities, which you never fail to follow through on. D’rorah and Loki have become one of my favorite interactions. I love how much they care for each other and how much they depend on one another but there’s nothing remotely sexual or romantic about it. They’re one of the best platonic ships I’ve ever had.
@lxvingdeadgxrl - Wynter Davenport is an amazing detailed young woman who can pique just about anyone’s interest. She caught my interest, caught Loki’s interest, and she certain makes the pair of us so undeniably attached to her. Loki relies on her as much as he relies on himself and she has given him a second chance at life. Who could ever do that for him? You are also a delight to talk to OOC, and I’m sad it doesn’t happen more often. Our schedules conflict a lot, but I love getting to talk to you when they don’t. You’re an amazing writer and friend and you should be so proud of all of work you’ve put into creating Wyn.
@withabxte - We haven’t gotten a huge opportunity to RP--something we need to change--but your muse is a really wonderful addition to the Marvel fandom. She’s interesting and she’s fun. Not to mention, she’s always ready to kick some ass. She’s perfectly fine with taking charge, but she’s not so cocky as to believe herself capable of certain foes. She’s intelligent and she’s sexy and she’s sarcastic and she’s passionate. All in all, she’s a well rounded muse that you should take pride in knowing you created.
@wasacoyote - We’ve RPed on and off for a long time and our interactions have always fascinated me. They’re so unique and so exciting. I can’t begin to tell you how happy it makes me to explore your muse in relation to mine, and even when I’m not involved? The creative spin you’ve put on your character is absolutely jaw dropping and I love learning all the little quirks about your inventiveness.
@devcurercfmcnsters - We RP on so many of our blogs that it’s ridiculous, but Dean? God, Dean’s just such a cool character. You’ve always been really talented when it comes to writing for both OCs and canon characters, but the amount of work you’ve put into Dean is really breathtaking. His story is fucked up and sad and addicting and I love it so much. I can’t wait for him to have his own webcomic, so I can say “I knew him when”.
@equexevadere - Ellana is an amazingly damaged-yet-strong woman and I love interacting with her. Even though their relationship has become rather tense in their last RP, I really love seeing all of the development that goes into Ellana and how much you care about her. You’ve pumped so much love into her and it really shows.

If I missed you, I do sincerely apologize. I tried to catch as many OCs as I have RPed with/follow that I could. If you are not on here, that does not mean that you don’t deserve just as much love and recognition, it just means I AM A HUGE DERP (which it totes true).

okay so oc appreciation time! ocs are great, ocs are wonderful but i think everyone who has ever made one can agree with me on the fact that they are so hard to create and keep going. this is mostly because for some reason canon characters are more wanted then ocs ( which idk why cause ocs kick ass guys ) anyway here are some awesome ocs that i just love so much
there are probably several hundred more amazing ocs that i am missing at the moment but yeah if you are an oc && are reading this then consider yourself apart of this list
i follow a lot of really, really wonderful original characters and i love each and every single one. i’m continuously blown away by the creativity and care that goes into this community and the individuals characters that occupy it, whether they’re from specific fandoms or from a world that we don’t see in media currently. each and every writer is super fantastic, and extremely talented, and a huge inspiration to me. this is a small list, but definitely some people you should be following!
Spreading some good vibes by giving some love to our fellow Roleplayers. Goodness knows the community could use it! Each day take a little bit out of your time to show you care!
