what makes hockey special to you?
oh man, i rambled about this for a loooooong time last night.
hockey is special because i feel like it's a really blue collar sport. it's just kids out on the ice doing what they know, there's nothing fancy about it, and i know a lot of people rant about how elitist winter sports are, but one of my earliest memories is ice skating. it's just nice. it's simple.
it's a family sport. how many sets of brothers are there in the nhl? how many sets of brothers on the same freaking TEAM? SO MANY.
and it's a team sport in a way that not many sports are. (this links back to my point about family)
hockey taught me to care about fandom again, and that's pretty fucking special in and of itself.
i'm cutting myself short there, because otherwise i could go all night
