I don’t know WHERE that « the Rowdyruff Boys aren’t that fond of each other and are ready to sacrifice each other for themselves » thing stem from… because honestly I don’t agree at ALL!!

We may not see much of them, and we can only see their 5 years old selves, but just LOOK AT THEM:

THESE ARE BIRDS OF A FEATHER. These three are ALWAYS together, and they always seem to be having a LOT of fun— even if that fun comes from evilness, of course.

But come on. Even at five, who would want to stick by people they HATE, or even dislike?

Like, I think the boys actually LOVE each other, just as much the Powerpuff Girls love each other, just… in a very different way. Because their « parents » are who they are, and they have no real guidance or moral support/compass.

They kind of just do whatever they want to do whenever they want to do it, like, they don’t care about right/wrong, only about fun/not fun. Or at least, that’s the case when they’re still kids. Obviously they’ll grow and evolve.

But if « fun » means punching your brother (whom you love, for reasons you can’t really put into words) in the face? Then sure. Punch.

The concept of the Rowdyruff boys is just SO wild and cool to me, man…

Like, think about it. When they were first created, they were mean and vicious and all (their literal first purpose was apparently to « kick some butts »), but back then, they weren’t exactly on the same level of WICKEDNESS as they are on later seasons.

See my first PPG theory, where I explain why I think the intentions when using Chemical X (and substitutes) has consequences on the life forms it generates.

Mojo Jojo’s reasons were bad, sure: he wanted superpowered boys to beat up and rival his life-long mortal enemies, the Powerpuff Girls— but mostly, they were petty.

Like, oh, you’re stronger and more powerful and more synergistic and have never once been defeated by my intellect? Here, I’ll bio-engineer your EXACT matches and rival— basically boy versions of you, except they’ve no morals, no faith, and no sense of purpose outside of violence. That’ll show you.

And then these creations died. Unfortunate, but Mojo had already rejected them for their failure. So he didn’t bother trying with them again.

Here’s where HIM swoops in. Because Him, fabulous embodiment of All Evil, saw potential in the little monsters that were the Rowdyruff boys.

So he brought them BACK. Him adopted them, and that’s why I think the Rowdyruff Boys were MUCH meaner and violent after their resurrection!

Brick became self-absorbed, prideful, cruel and purely evil, Butch became a rabid, bloodthirsty, ITCHY-FOR-A-FIGHT gremlin-thing (no, seriously, he was twitching all over the place), and Boomer. Well, he’s constantly being bullied by Brick and Butch, so it’s hard to tell, but it’s clear he’s not THAT different from them! I mean. He’s CLEARLY having fun too!

So yeah, I REALLY think my theory is right— just a theory, though.

Anyways, I genuinely adore the concept of the Rowdyruff boys, even outside of them being used as shipping materials for the girls. Obviously, I’m not gonna lie, I also ship them with the Ppgs, but I also have a lot of fun imagining the three of them together in their everyday lives, grown or not. Kind of like the Powerpuff Girls, but it’s Rowdyruff centered.

I wish we’d gotten more of them, they were the perfect villains… with Him, and Princess, of course.
