Glitter has remained sound on limited turnout in small run, so today (with a bit of ace on board) she got to move up to the front field! She was very sensible about her new freedom, but definitely enjoyed having a little more room to run!

Big day today... first field trip, and almost a year after her injury the first retraining ride for Bold Glitter! We both started out a little uncertain, and she was pretty looky and tense, but for a 4yo in a brand new place she was incredibly sensible! A few more rides and she should keep loosening up steadily. So excites we finally took this step in our journey together!

She had a couple of firsts in today’s training session! I started carrying a small whip as a visual aid to urge her shoulder outward and achieve better bend (which we did) and finished off with her first baby-hack down the driveway and around the outside of the small field. She was a perfect she’ll and I’m so proud of her! 😇

Shanghai Kitty is back to walking under saddle! It’s been HOT, which means time for silly sun hats. It’s also possible the heat might be adding to her calmness 😂

Shanghai Kitty has been behaving so well for her tacked up hand walks, so we’ve started transitioning to a combination headstall so that more of the stopping and steering control is associated with the bit again. We’ve also started doing some of the prep work for her to take a rider soon - sound on for some great commentary of how this exercise went today! 😂

Fourth ride, second field trip for Bold Glitter! Gaining confidence and swing in her trot, and starting to reach out for the contact as she relaxes. The steering has improved a lot too 😂 Another week of this and I think we’ll be ready to check out her canter!
