Reading response wk 11
This weeks reading is on chapters 8 & 9. We learned about Framing Arguments and constructing arguments through these two readings as well as the myths of an argument. In chapter 8 Framing Arguments discusses how an argument is the position a writer takes on a particular writing project. The evidence, the way the writer structures it, and the format all effect the side the writer is taking. Myth number 1 helped me learn a lot in framing an argument because as it states it is not always about winning but about having done enough research and providing enough evidence for your stance on the argument itself.
I chose this gif to show that a victory in writing an argumentative paper is not always about winning but having victory in the research and evidence you provide. Also at the end of the chapter is says that you should always be open minded in welcoming different perspectives even if the readers don't agree with the argument stand point you take. In chapter 9 constructing arguments it first discusses classical structure where you might be used to having your intro to the argument the story behind the argument and the main reasons supporting he argument, but there are other ways of constructing an argument. There is also the Toulmin argument structure u state your claim provide evidence the warrant section which is the most important. If I can learn to write with this structure every argumentative essay would be solid.
